Inappropriate? Each connected instance of Pandion requires its own unique resource. A resource is part of the IM address: username@server/resource
By default the resource is "Pandion" so the address becomes: john.doe@example.net/Pandion
Some servers, for example GTalk, will assign a unique resource for each client connection. So if you connect to your gmail.com account using Pandion you will not be disconnected. I'm not sure if Openfire has such an option.
You can manually set the resource for Pandion by specifying it in your profile under the System tab. Go to the Actions menu and choose Edit my Profile. -
Inappropriate? Thanks Sebastiaan, that worked great! The only problem is that when another user sees me ... they see me twice :-) .... i.e. one called Pandion-House and one called pandion-Work ....
Is there anyway to combine them into 1....
or when somebody sends a msg to John with pandion-work it arrives on all John's ..
thansk again .. i hope that makes sense..

Inappropriate?Pandion always shows all resources including their status message and available/busy/away mode. There is not yet any way to merge them in the contact list.
Pandion only sends a single message but the other user's server may broadcast it for delivery to all available users, though in most cases servers seem to deliver messages to just one resource, using some prioritisation scheme. Message routing and delivery is up to the server. Some servers may allow you to change this setting. -
Inappropriate?thanks ... ok i will try and investigate the openfire server part of it.. thanks once again fro your help on this matter.
