Premium Subscriptions to Keep the Doors Open
After I read this article and then someone mentioned SaveNetRadio I thought that marketing premium accounts as helping keep the doors of net radio stations open might be a stopgap until the rules are reformed. Perhaps I'm understanding the issue to simplistically, but if you can increase revenue without increasing song plays, that will reduce the percentage of revenue that goes to these ridiculous fees, right? I am telling all my friends that use net radio (even rely on it to get through the day in some cases) to step up and pay for a premium subscription. Perhaps there should be a way to allow us to specify that that is the reason we're subscribing so you can present that as evidence of your users' support.

Inappropriate?Agreed! In fact, I think Pandora is of high enough quality that the service could go subscription-only with a free trial period. Maybe not as friendly as being completely free, but you've got something pretty compelling here and I'd think a lot of people would be willing to pay for it.

Inappropriate? Thanks so much Jamie and Matt, for your feedback and suggestions.
Please don't worry; we've been in negotiations regarding royalty rates for over a year, and we plan to continue working towards a fruitful solution to the stand-off.
Do keep listening, and I promise we'll let you know if / when there's anything you can do to help.
We're not going down without a battle, and we'll do whatever is needed to keep Pandora alive and kicking.
Thanks so much for supporting us; we're literally nothing without our listeners.
:)
Best,
Lucia, from Pandora
p.s. sorry it took me a bit to get back to you....I was off last week.
I’m hopeful and grateful.
