Here's the problem: Espresso has most of the features discussed here.
I am trying out MacRabbit's Espresso software, and they've done everything I want. I've already invested in Coda, and I'd like to continue using it, but Espresso is way ahead already.
Might I recommend you increase speed of development?

Inappropriate?Hi Zack!
If you're interested, I can create a (long) list of all of the things Coda does that the competition doesn't, if it's helpful.
Also, I'd love to know what features -- other than cold folding! :) -- the competition has that you want. You can send me an e-mail if you'd like.
That being said, the best thing about Mac software is having choice! If you prefer Espresso, you should definitely use it! (And if you'd like a refund on Coda, we'd be happy to provide you with one.)

Let's start the war - post this secret list please! :) -
Inappropriate? That's interesting, I was just about to fire off an e-mail to Panic saying that while Espresso has potential, Coda is still miles ahead of it, and has nothing to worry about at the moment.
The only 2 features that Espresso has that I'm jealous about are:
- Multiple upload locations - The ability to set a Production server and a Development server and then choose which one to upload to is great!
- FTP Synchronisation - Being able to perform full synchronisation with the server is very handy. Coda's tracking of changes is nice, but not as good a full synchronisation.
And those are the only two things that I would like to see in Coda. I have played about with Espresso a lot, but it shall certainly not be replacing Coda as my main development tool at this point. I too could provide a very long list of features Coda has over Espresso!
@Panic if you are able to consider the above two features, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!
I’m looking forward

Yep, I want those features too. -
Inappropriate?Yes, multiple upload locations, and full sync, but simple things like being able to close tags easily is something I long for!
Here are three things that would make my day:
- Code collapsing (done REALLY nicely in Espresso)
- Good tag completion (like in Dreamweaver, write </ and it automatically knows which tag to close)
- A great code structure navigator
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate?Espresso is a good start, but it's still a text editor separate from a CSS editor (albeit a good one). I still prefer Coda's all-in-one approach. The only feature I'm missing in Coda is code-folding, but I gather that's not exactly simple to do, and may take a while before they can implement it.
-
Inappropriate? Please please please differentiate between "auto code completion" and "auto tag close" in the preferences. And if there isn't a better system, please add something similar to Dreamweaver's '</' for closing tags in order.
Ideally, Coda's current auto-close feature should be perfect, but in real life I don't think anybody codes that perfectly.
Maybe a hotkey system for jumping the cursor forward and backward over whole tags and strings could help? Is there a hotkey to jump to the end of the current line? -
command+right, it's an OS X default behaviour. -
Oh yeah... I'm an idiot. -
and option-right jumps by words, also handy -
Ahhhh.... stupid Spaces. I would have never caught that one. Thanks, it is super handy. -
Inappropriate?I just got Espresso from MacHeist & I don't think it's anywhere near as good as Coda. The project management seems pretty weak. With Coda I can easily see both local and remote items and which need to be updated. What makes Espresso completely useless for me is that it can't preview PHP files like Coda does.
-
Inappropriate?I agree. I love how easy it is to pull up remote files of a vast variety and edit, save, rename, delete etc.
Sometimes I can't believe this is a 1.x version.
