Inappropriate?In general, the purpose of verified has been for people with verified real names to have privileges (like posting photos) that others don't and so that users might take verified comments more seriously. So the realname is an integral part of verified.
We've had similar requests of folks wanting to be "verified" by us, but still appear as "joeuser214."
But is what you're saying that you'd like your username to appear on comments and then your profile page to have realname? We might consider that.

Inappropriate?Yes, our names could be available but we could have a certain freedom of expression when it comes to our user names. Then users could choose something less lame than, oh I don't know, Scott Doyle!
