How do you create thumbnails or chapter markers for non-Powerpoint content within a recording? Something along the lines of the secondary video source (the chalkboard) in this example:
We don't want yet another sql server express installation to manage in our data center. How can we use Coursecast 2.1's web server with our existing SQL server 2005?
Have any institutions using CourseCast tied usage stats to learning outcomes? If so, would you mind sharing how you have done this? I'm interested in corresponding or talking to anyone about your experience.
We would like statistics from the server regarding the files Viewers are accessing. How many hours (minutes?) within a given date range have the students viewed any particular lecture or Course? How many unique 'hits'? etc. What other reports should be valuable?
Is it possible to set default permissions for recordings within a class/folder so that they can be viewed/edited only by one particular student plus the instructor?
For example, each student in a class would be able to see their own recordings, but not those of the other students. It seems that by default everyone can see everyone else's recordings.
There does appear to be a way to set an ACL on the course/folder that each recording would inherit. This would allow the instructor to access all student recordings, but would not help with the default permissions on new recordings.
We use BB with LDAP, not active directory. So what is the best way to populate the classes? I read the previous thread, and it mentioned you were working on making it more seamless with LDAP and BB.
Are there any plans to integrate Panopto with 3rd-party media repositories, specifically iTunes U? We would like to have the ability to save our Panopto recordings to someplace other than the Coursecast server.
How about a single login for all users, rather than the Student/Instructor paradigm? I am sure the server can parse the roles. This is a step toward simplifying where users locate recordings. Now, Creators who only have Viewing access for certain Courses must log out as Instructors and login as students to view those files.
Does Panopto have a PowerLink for use with Blackboard Vista (formerly WebCT Vista)? I'm investigating the integration of Blackboard Vista 8.0.2 with CourseLink.
Here's an oddity. I made a presentation with a PPT and then added a PDF with a list of relevant links (as recommended in these forums).
When I test the presentation, I can jump to the PDF tab and click a link, but then if I go back to the PowerPoint, and click on PDF for a *second* time, the window is blank. I'm using Firefox on Windows.
We are testing the Mac recorder, and there does not appear to be a way to record multiple video sources. Is there something that I am missing, or is this not currently possible? Could this be added to the final release? It is imperative that the Mac recorder be able to capture two cameras in our implementation. Thanks!
Wondering if the "share" link can be disabled. We're running Panopto hosted through Panopto and our licensing is based on downloads. If the share link is enabled that would allow lecturers to add extra users to the system.
When logged in as Admin on the server I have a lecture that cannot be removed from the course. It remains in processing mode after a failed upload. Any thoughts?
