Archiving, Identification
It would be super-duper if recordings that are archived could be made searchable by course name, date, etc. for easier retrieval, if necessary.

Inappropriate?I will defer to Eric to see if that will make the final 2.1 release.
For anyone else not familiar with this, in 2.1 you can archive a recording. The archive folder contains the GUID name. If it were the friendly name (i.e. course/lecture name) you could easily identify it down the road, if needed.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Hi Brian,
Our goal with this is to produce a simple, client-side archive management utility. The filesystem layout should probably stay as it is, since it gives us a consistent and dependable way to scan and manipulate large amounts of archived content. Rather than overload the filesystem naming scheme for two purposes (structured storage of the content AND human-readable maintenance), we're hoping to leave it doing the thing it currently does well and produce a better tool for managing the archives. If this is a huge and immediate drawback, let me know and we'll figure out a stopgap for you.
We're going to try to throw something together in the near term, probably as an out-of-band utility that isn't tied to a release (as we did with the exporter). I'm going to guess you're interested in beta testing.
If you'd like to discuss futher, please email me directly and we can talk about features and timelines.
Thanks!

Eric,
I'm also interested in looking at or beta testing the archive management software.

Inappropriate?Where are the archives to be found on the server? Is there a web interface to access them?
By the way, I'm also confused by folder contents named by GUID. I think minimally naming them by date and time would be an improvement. If there was a way that the recording description or other friendly naming could be abbreviated into a folder name, that would be better still.
Probably this will be less of an issue once there is a web-based export utility. -
Inappropriate?Ok, just found part of my answer to this query on the support site.
"Clicking on archive will move the files/folders on the server to cc_data/sessions/archive and cc_data/video/archive."
Still not clear if there is a web interface to retrieve them back. -
Inappropriate?Bill,
There is not a way in the webUI to bring back archived recordings. In the next week, we will have a cmd based utility that will allow you un-archive recordings.

Inappropriate? Also, to your first question about GUID name. If you archive an entire folder, it uses the folder and session names. When you individually archive recordings, it uses the GUID for the folder name.
