Character encoding after editing
Before I start I'd like to say that this is a awsome application. Issue I've experienced is: after doing some edit to an uploaded vodcast including foreign characters (such as tilde, cedil, etc.) Contents tab captured from powerpoint displays garbled characters, in other words, ç and ã are replaced with unrecognized characters. Character encoding is somehow not properly handled when you edit a presentation after uploading it. Hope I've explained it in a meaningful way. Maybe I'm a newbie who is trying to sell it to a Brazilian organization and doesn't know how to handle edit feature properly. Feel free to ask for an example. Thanks.

Inappropriate?Hi Fabio,
Thanks for the kind words. This is a bug in the existing version of the editor: unicode characters are mangled by the editor, which is our one remaining non-Unicode component.
We are working on another small update to our recorder that fixes a few small bugs like this. That should happen in the next few months, but in the meantime if you are under a support contract and running a deployed version of the software (versus Hosted) we can apply a small patch that will cause the server to ignore caption changes from the Editor. You'll lose the ability to edit the captions, but it will preserve your character encoding intact. This is a temporary fix but should resolve your problem until we update the Recorder.
Please email support@panopto.com if you'd like to proceed. Thanks for your patience!

Inappropriate?Hi Eric,
Thank you very much for your fast response. I'm happy to learn that I wasn't doing anything wrong. That's a minor glitch that we can live with for a while. No major worries. Thanks again.
I’m thankful
