Inappropriate?Hi Dan,
I was on the phone with Pete as this post came in and we were discussing this same topic. I've given him some ideas on how you can do this.
To summarize:
1. You can manually add student accounts to each Course to give them "Viewer" rights. This allows you to restrict access to each Course's content to the students in that Course.
2. Some schools have found it easier to create a generic user account for each course that they pass out to students. This is generally well received but is reliant on students agreeing not to change the password for that account.
3. We allow for AD/LDAP integration to restrict access to view/create content in the system. If each of your students have AD accounts, you can add an AD connection string to your CourseCast server configuration to connect to your Domain Controller. Instructions for this are on our Support Wiki: http://support.panopto.com/How_To/Act...
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Andy

Inappropriate?A few more nuggets:
You can mass paste lists of coursecast/LDAP users into the access control box. What you can't do right now is mass copy the users back out if you want to replicate a previously created set to another class.
In the upcoming point release, we've adjusted the workflow so that class association can be set as you create each CourseCast user.
In the future we plan to support AD/LDAP groups + deeper CMS integration, so admins can leverage their existing infrastructure. -
Inappropriate? One more quick answer: we'd be happy to work with you guys to write the data into the SQL tables directly. I believe Kalamazoo did something similar, where they wrote a small utility to dump user lists from their class membership system into the CourseCast access control tables. We're willing to help you get this going if you are interested.
