Panopto setup.exe failing in vista.
Panopto Recorder will not install on User's Vista Computer. I just had a user trying to setup panopto on their personal computer and when the ran the install it unzips and then throws an error say that setup.exe has failed. Any ideas?

Inappropriate? Can you check a couple of things for us?
1. Does the user have admin rights?
2. Ensure that .NET Framework 3.5 is installed
3. If it's not installed, please manually install it (link is below)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de...
4. After you have a successful .NET installation, retry the panoptorecorder.exe.
Thanks,
Dave

Inappropriate? Thanks for the suggestion. I the instructor decided to go a different direction with the activity so I will assume that this would have solved the problem.

Inappropriate?I am trying to view a lecture on panopto. I have downloaded the silverlight plug-in but it still fails to play the lecture. My computer operates on vista 64bit, could this be a compatability problem??

Inappropriate?Austin,
Are you receiving an error message? Try uninstalling Silverlight and opening in Internet Explorer. The recording will attempt to play in Windows Media Player. I'm curious if that works. 64 bit OS's are supported by the way.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Dave,
I am not receiving an error message. I have uninstalled Silverlight and the recording attempted to open in Windows Media Player however it simply says "connecting to media" and every so often briefly flashes over to "ready" but only for an instant and then returns to "connecting to media". It never begins to play the video. I can see the powerpoint but it stays on the first slide and there is no audio as well.
Thanks for your promt response.

Inappropriate? What URL are you attempting to watch? If it doesn't load the video at all then it's probably firewall related. Your IT group may be blocking port 8080 (required for viewing). Or are you trying to view from home?

Inappropriate? The firewall was blocking the recording to load. Thank you so much. I was attempting to watch the lectures from home. I will pass this information along to my instructor as many other students have experienced the same problem.
