We think that Panopto will provide solutions to a number of our needs in Continuing education, but we would need to participate in the Socrates project and set up our own server. The staff time commitment is something I can't guess. Can anyone who has BTDT tell me what's involved in (a) setting up and (b) maintaining a Panopto server? I know that when we pitch the idea here, I will need answers to those questions. Thanks!
What does it take to set up and run your own server?

Inappropriate?Hi there,
This was partially covered in another topic a few months ago. You could post on that thread to get some additional information directly from other users. If you would like to e-mail support@panopto.com, we would be happy to answer any technical questions.

Inappropriate? Thanks Dave - that helps a bit, but no one dealt with the server side issues. We'll only have three or four people using the recorder so it's easy for me to train them, but my concern is that I'm not going to get our IT department to agree to set up the needed server unless I can give them some clue to the staff time required to support it.
OTOH, maybe the fact that no one commented about staff time to support the server means that it is minimal.....? -
Inappropriate? The server side support is pretty minimal. Typically, the only time you have to touch the server OS is if there was some kind of failure to process/encode. Those issues are pretty rare.
Are you guys supported? If you are, you can offload any server related issues to us.
