First of all thanks for your question/ suggestion.
The yellow icon is the closest-by loo from your current location and the gray loo icons are "all others" that are further away than that one.
The black balloon/ pin indicates the current location. We were not completely satisfied with the look of it, maybe that's really the issue that you experienced. That it wasn't obvious that it was pointing to your current location.? We'll definitely have a look at this in the next release.
