Cannot create new Boot Camp VM or upgrade existing VM on parallels 4
I recently upgraded fra Parallels Desktop 3 til 4 (version 4.0.3540) and everything more or less stopped working.
I cannot upgrade my existing Boot Camp VM to version 4, or create a new one. I get the same error message every time:
"Failed to configure the Boot Camp partition's hard disk.
A disk configuration error has occurred. Make sure that you have read/write permissions for the disk."
I have searches the Parallels Forum, and several people seem to be having the same problem. I have left several error reports with Parallels, but no help has been forthcoming, and the company hasn't come up with a solution (to what seems to be a massive problem) or taken reasonable action - like offering refunds.
Anyone have a working solution to this problem (my prefered solution) or at least have a way of making Parallels take this problem serious, instead of ignoring customers as people are reporting on several forums?

Inappropriate?Same problem here, brand new install, almost brand new OSX install...
I’m frustrated because I wanted VMware Fusion

Inappropriate?I found this in one of the Parallels forums. It Worked for me! Hope it helps, good luck.
Holy cow!
I must admit I was getting pretty, well, angry about this error... but I got back a support response that said to enter the following command in the Terminal:
mv "/Library/Parallels/Parallels Service.app/Contents/MacOS/BootcampConfigurator" "/Library/Parallels/Parallels Service.app/Contents/MacOS/BootcampConfigurator.old"
After entering that one command, so far it's been smooth sailing.
The same thing might work for others in this thread - but I can't guarantee it will work, and just to be clear, I'm not responsible if the command erases your computer, burns down your house, or causes you to be attacked by mutant rabbits.

Inappropriate?Hi Shawn,
Tried your solution but it only lets me use the first 1024MB of my bootcamp partition oddly... aka still no good -
Inappropriate?Hi,
Shawns Solution worked for me! I had WinXP in BootCamp running on the third partition. Made with BootCamp Assistant, splitted afterwards my Mac partition in two. However windows crashed one day, so I reinstalled it using a bootable Windows XP CD. Although it is complaining (Parallels Message "Unable to access Hard Disk 1 An Error occurred when accessing the hard disk. Error ID: Input/output error." (?) it is workling like before :)
