How do I get Miro to recognize already downloaded videos as part of a channel?
How do I get Miro to recognize already downloaded videos as part of a channel?
Miro saves its downloads on a mapped network drive on my home network. I installed Miro on a different computer and configured it to use the same folder for its downloads, and added several of the same RSS feeds. The second instance of Miro does not recognize the already downloaded videos as part of the feeds.

Inappropriate?Hi Archon,
the information which videos are downloaded are stored in the database and this is something different than the folder where the videos are stored.
You have to share the database between you 2 computers.
If you have a server in you network using server profiles if on windows would solve this or another solution where you synchronize the database before starting miro. If your 2 computers don't run parallel you may use your external storage to exchange the database between the 2 computers when you read it before miro starts and write it back when miro shuts down.
In miro you can only choose the storage folder - for the folder where the meta information is store you've to make changes in the code. -
Is there a way to import videos already downloaded by other software? I have gygabytes of videos, filenames are the same as Miro wil give them during real download (like `basename $URL`), an a list of corresponding RSS feeds. Download all this stuff one more time is not the best way, I think. -
Inappropriate?I have a related problem. I have several hundred gigabytes of podcasts and videos managed by Miro. My database became corrupt and I need to rebuild it, but I do not like the prospect of having to redownload a 200GB collection. Why can't Miro recognize videos that are already downloaded?
-
YES YES! Why do I need to re-download 160 GB of data just because I had to wipe out the corrupted database (on purpose because Miro would not start otherwise). Miro recognizes that I have 2500+ podcasts and videos but it can't seem to relate them to their Feed channel, even though they are still in their proper folders as created by the first installation of Miro. -
Inappropriate? My problem is similar. I have reinstalled Windows Vista and copied the Data folders in %appdata% over to my new user profile. However, Miro doesn't recognize the videos already downloaded in my video folder, instead I'm presented with "397 new videos". What can I do to keep the data?
I’m disappointed.
-
Inappropriate?Hm, this could be a fatal flaw in an otherwise almost perfect podcast application.
I suppose that as long as you know you already have your videos, (even if Miro doesn't! ) - you can just go on downloading new ones until a solution is found.
As for me, I just started, so I downloaded the 40 GB of videos again. =)
Jeez.

Inappropriate?I have filed a bug report on bugzilla for this. http://bugzilla.pculture.org/show_bug... Anyone interested in getting it fixed, sign on to bugzilla, vote for it and leave a comment.
I’m disappointed.

Inappropriate?Archon - miro will see the downloaded videos - either in the download directory or you can point a watched folder. What you are missing is the metadata that is part of the feed.
-
It's actually the metadata that I'm missing the most. Almost all of the videos I downloaded have their filenames don't tell their contents... -
It is almost impossible to make heads or tales of one huge VIDEO or AUDIO feed composed of all the prior feeds jumbled together. This should be fixable (ID3 tags etc) right? -
Inappropriate?Below link has a workaround for itunes that applies to miro as well with some minor tweaks:
