How do I migrate the Miro database to another computer after an OS failure?
I had my Miro installation and channels on a Windows XP computer that died. I was able to rescue my Application Data directory that has the Participatory Culture Foundation and PCF-VLC folders for Miro. My new computer runs Vista and I tried just copying the old files into the App Data folder but it does not work. How can I migrate my Miro subscriptions to another computer when I can't export the channel list?

Inappropriate? You could try the export/import OPML functions (they're in the "channel" menu on the top bar). That will get all your subscriptions, but not the videos themselves.

Inappropriate?Dean,
That is the problem. I can't export my old channel list because my original computer died. I rescued the files but I can not longer boot into any OS. I have the files on a new OS and need to import them into Vista but there is no OPML file to import. -
Inappropriate?I'm not sure what happens when you move from XP to Vista, but I do know that the channels aren't stored in OPML format inside windows. If your database file isn't corrupt, you might be able to load it on a different XP box, export the OPML and then go to Vista from there?

Inappropriate? How would I load the database file on a different XP box without the OPML file to import?

Inappropriate? So if you have the application data files, you would install Miro on the XP box and then replace its database with the one you've got. Open Miro and then see if you can't export the OPML from there. I have no idea if that'd work, but that's about the best advice I've got.

Inappropriate?I have a somewhat related problem... it was necessary to move my miro files to another drive. I changed the drive in Miro and it asked if I wanted to move my files from the old drive to the new. I said yes, but unfortunately the source (old) drive died during the process. I started Miro again, but found no way to initiate the transfer again. I then moved the files myself to the new drive, but Miro doesn't see them. Instead, assumes that no downloads have been made and is starting from scratch. Another strange thing is, on the original drive, subscription was placed in its own folder, for example, in the original drive I would have:
E:/democracy/apple/Apple-Quick-Tip-of-the-Week/quicktips-14
But after the directory chance I would get:
F:/democracy/quicktips-14
Anyway to fix this mess?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Where is the Database file located? If I can just copy it I can solve my problem.
