Insufficient Disk Space Error After Upgrade
Today, I upgraded to version 2.5 from the last released version. I'm not certain what the version number was, but I was current on the updates.
When I launch Miro for the first time now I receive the attached error.
I have 1.9GB free on my C: drive and 9.24GB free on my D: drive where Miro is installed.
Is this a valid error or is the database corrupt?
Thanks!

Hi! I'm also a Miro dev. We're working as fast as we can on this problem, but it's been difficult because you all are the ones experiencing it and it's not something we've been able to reproduce.
So I want to thank you all for bearing with us and helping to work this out.
Ben did some additional changes and I just produced a third test installer with them.
Before you run this installer, please backup your database file first. You can find the database file at:
Windows XP: C:\\Documents and Settings\(you)\Application Data\Participatory Culture Foundation \Miro\Support\sqlitedb
Vista: C:\\Users\(you)\AppData\Roaming\Participatory Culture Foundation\Miro\Support\sqlitedb
Let us know if this works for you or not. If it doesn't, email log files to me at will.guaraldi@pculture.org .
http://pculture.org/nightlies/Miro-2....
Again, thank you all for your patience and help working through this. We'll keep working on it until it's resolved. Hopefully that'll be tonight--tomorrow at the latest.

Inappropriate?have the same problem
free space - 110GB, 30GB, 50GB (have 3 disks)
win 7 RC fully upgraded
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I also have this problem. I posted my own message about it before finding this one. Vista Home Premium, 140GB free.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Workaround:
Close Miro, delete the sqlitedb file at the below directory, open Miro. All feeds will be lost if you do this.
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Participatory Culture Foundation\Miro\Support
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hi all, I'm a developer for Miro and I wrote the code that's causing you problems. I'm really confused as to why this is happening, can someone email me the log file that gets written when the bug occurs? Hopefully we can get this fixed quick.
Log files can be found at:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp\miro.log</username> -
Inappropriate?my email is ben@pculture.org
-
I just emailed the contents of the log file. -
Inappropriate?I wouldn't rush into deleting the database. If you copy the sqlitedb_backup_pre80 to sqlitedb - then you can install 2.0.5 on top of 2.5 until we get a proper fix for this.
-
Inappropriate?Same Probleme:
System:
- WXP SP2 german
- 9 GB free on C:\
I start Miro 2.5 as a User without Admin-Rights, than the Database sqllitedb will be backed-up as sqlitedb_backup_pre80, than the upgrade of the database starts -> when its finished the Errormesage “Not enough disk space to upgrade your database from the previus version..” appears.
Mail with Log file send to Ben. -
Inappropriate?Hi all, we made a build that might fix the problems that folks are experiencing. You can try it by downloading the installer here:
http://pculture.org/nightlies/Miro-2....
After that, please test it and see if it fixes the issue, and if so, please email me your log files after than run. This will help us make a new version that we can release to the general public. -
Hi ben,
I installed the Miro test1 version, but I still have the same problem.
Do you till want log files send to you ?
Regards and happy debugging :)) -
I receive the same error as well. I've emailed you my updated log file. -
Reinstalled and your upgrade didn't do diddly. Now what? -
Boz - Try this version and send Ben the updated log file. http://pculture.org/nightlies/Miro-2.... -
Did that GP2980 with no change. Same old error message saying that my 16GB is not enough space. If I knew where to send Ben the log file or where it is, I would gradly do that. Good luck, guys! -

runs now :)

What the f does this mean? -
Inappropriate? Two most recent log files emailed Ben. Thanks for looking into this.
I’m waiting patiently
-
Inappropriate?Okay, looks like my first idea was wrong. We just made a second test version, can people test this one out and send me the log files?
http://pculture.org/nightlies/Miro-2....
This version definitely won't fix the problem, but it adds more debugging output to the log. Hopefully, this will help me understand what's going on. -
Log file from this version has been sent. Thanks. -
Inappropriate?I had the same problem with a 1.5TB hard drive with 930GB of space. Really rather frustrating; we pay good money to never see errors like that. ;-)
I solved the overall issue by installing the old one again, exporting my feeds, and then just importing them. Not sure what else I lose in the transition, but at least I keep my feeds.
I’m Partially Angry
-
Inappropriate?Maybe tomorrow or next week you willhave this worked out. I will check back as I do enjoy Miro.
I’m mifed.
-
Inappropriate?Log files for test2 sent. It takes a good 30-60 seconds for the error message to appear. After clicking Ok the program crashes about 20 seconds later.
Of course, on my system, Miro has been crashing about 80% of the time after closing it since version 2.0 came out.
I’m hoping this helps
-
Yeah, same here. I've just upgraded my hardware and am running Vista Home Premium and am grudgingly getting to like it. Miro hasn't shut down correctly since about version two, I think, on both my XP and Vista PCs, but that was a problem I could live with so I didn't raise the issue. But tonight, after an extremely difficult day, I thought I'd settle down to some videos and was met with grief from the moment I installed and ran 2.5. Dearest Miro, why dost thou torment me so? -
Inappropriate?Same problem... same result... log files sent.
-
Inappropriate?it's a different topic - but the shutdown thing should be fixed in 2.5 with the update to vlc 1.0.
-
I only learned about VLC from one of you guys and have kept and used an updated version ever since. It's one of the neatest apps of its kind around, IMO, and well worth supporting.
It would be nice if when we've sorted through this current bug, Miro does shut down correctly, but as I said earlier, to me it wasn't a "biggie." This current one is far more serious -- NO Miro! OMG! OMG! -

this solved my problem :) thank you guys for fast response :)
Miro updated database in 168s and started normaly -
I just tried test3 and was able to get past the error. However, it took 7 minutes for the upgrade to complete. Not sure if this was specific to my DB issue, but thought you'd want to know. Also, I received an InternalError while using the new version. If it persists, I'll submit a new ticket.
BIG thanks to Ben, Will and the entire team for getting this resolved quickly. -
I installed the Test 3, but it didn't work out for me. I don't get the error message anymore, but I don't get Miro on screen either. Any suggestions? I sent the log file to the stated email address. I run WinXP SP3 on a Intel Core TM 2 Duo CPU -
I really apologize for this. What's going on is that after you installed Miro 2.5, the first run upgrades your database. So the good news is that according to your log, it's in the process of upgrading your database to the new format.
The thing I apologize for is that we should have coded up a dialog or something that pops up and says, "Hi! I'm upgrading your database--this is going to take a while depending on how big it is." so that you know what's going on rather than seeing nothing.
So, try restarting Miro 2.5 and letting it run for a while. If it doesn't start after half an hour, let us know.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your patience and bearing with us. -
It worked! Took about 15 minutes I think to update the
database. -
Inappropriate?Javier_Brat: Awesome! Thank you so much for bearing with us and helping out.
I'll wait for a few more confirmations and if it's good, I'll push this out -
Will, this seems to have solved the problem for me as well. When I first ran your new installer, it took a VERY long time to run. The only way I knew it was still running was from watching my drive access light. When it finally finished (a couple of minutes later), the Miro window opened as usual with all my feeds intact. I then shut it down and restarted it and it opened almost immediately. Good work! -
I'm sitting here watching the HDD light glow a steady bright yellow -- telling me "something" is happening. It's been doing that for a few minutes now. I'll get back to you if it turns out to be Miro...
ETA: Nothing else is going on in my PC at the moment, so I figure it "must" be Miro launching...
ETA: Yes! Yes! It's Miro! Up and running, after what must be the slowest launch we've achieved yet! I'd say between seven to ten minutes? But it is running and downloading videos into its greedy, petulant little mouth.
I'll let you know if anything else of moment occurs... -
Miro was downloading two of the long versions of Democracy Now! so I interrupted them to see what would happen.
Well, first, Miro still isn't shutting down normally.
But second, when I restarted it, it did spring back to life more quickly than a sickly old gal ought to.
Just sayin'.
Just occurred to me, maybe Miro's caught that flu bug everyone's been twittering about...
I'm logging off for now -- the old body can't handle so much excitement all at once. It does look like we've a ways to go before we can consider this a solid piece of software.
Thanks to all who help. -
Inappropriate?Woo Hoo!!! Worked for me too! Thanks to all for the quick response and getting the fix out.
-
Inappropriate? The 'not enough disk space' bug should be fixed now-- if you are one of the people that have had this problem, please download again from getmiro.com and let us know if that works or not! Sorry for the problem!
