Miro corrupting downloads
Miro has started corrupting downloads of two feeds (Cranky Geeks and Geekbrief.tv) all other feeds are fine. I've tried changing to different feed types, H.264 to WMV, that didn't work. The file lengths look ok but just on those feeds, Miro doesn't show the downloading progress.
I've tried viewing the feed directly and the files are fine. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Miro and that's made no difference.
Any help much appreciated.

Inappropriate?can you post the feed urls of the ones that don't work? And just so I'm clear, are you saying that the files are not downloading, or can't be played after they have been downloaded?
-
Inappropriate?Thanks for the reply Jed,
Problem URLs:
http://www.podshow.com/feeds/gbtv.xml
http://rssnewsapps.ziffdavis.com/audi...
The files appear to download completely ( ~143mb for gbtv ) but are unplayable either within Miro or externally.
BTW - Loading the file url as resolved by Miro's file url button into a browser works fine. -
Inappropriate?Last question - what os are you using?
-
Windows 7 32bit Retail -
Inappropriate?I have similar problems but for me... for ANY Geekbrief feed (other feeds are fine) it just sits trying to download the file... forever and never makes any progress. Sometimes if I continually click continue and then pause and then continue, etc., it will progress a little ways but never seems to complete. This is on both Windows XP Professional (latest service packs) and Windows 7 64-bit.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? The same thing is happening for me with MacMost Now http://macmost.com/podcast.xml and also with Geekbrief as above. Can't watch the video that it downloads, this has been happening for a couple weeks now. I am using Mac Snow Leopard.
It's very annoying, I am now having to use iTunes or their website to watch these videos. -
Inappropriate?Well. I've given up getting an answer to this within my lifetime.
Maybe it's something I can pass to my children so that, in the decades to come, they might be able to use Miro to watch these feeds.

Inappropriate? It's working for me now once I disabled Glimmer Blocker.

Inappropriate?Glimmer Blocker seems to be a Mac application but this is happening for me in Windows.
-
Inappropriate?Yes, Glimmer Blocker is a Mac application - do you have any type of proxy application running? I wonder if there might be something equivalent to Glimmer Blocker.
-
Thankyou lynncosbm :)
I use Privoxy, similar program to Glimmer Blocker. Dissabling it solves the problem.
I wish Miro had an option to bypass a configured proxy as GB and Privoxy serve no purpose for it. So to use Miro, I have change my Internet settings everytime before and after I use it. Bit of a pain. -
You're welcome - glad I could help! -
Inappropriate? Not exactly... I DO run the Adblock Plus extension in Firefox. I determined that Miro appears to use XULRunner which is the base that Firefox is built on so it's possible (I guess) that XULRunner is picking up the extension from my Firefox profile... but that seems unlikely and disabling the extension and restarting both Firefox and Miro made no difference.
-
Inappropriate?Clean installs of both Firefox (including profiles) and Miro made no difference.
Looking at the logs I'm seeing this:
2009-10-28 13:10:20,137 TIMING WARNING: Calling <bound><miro>> on HTTPClient: http://69.16.184.117:80/f4h2x5q4/cds/... too slow (2.710 secs)
