Miro + Vista = No Sound
I get no sound from Miro. This is not the distortion problem, I literally have NO SOUND. Volume control does not work. Miro does not show up in the Vista mixer applet. My speakers are the system wide default sound device and video plays just fine out of Windows Media Player. The app looks cool but with no sound, its not very useful...

Inappropriate?Well that's odd, we have a current problem in Bugzilla with the exact opposite problem...
http://bugzilla.pculture.org/show_bug...
I'm gonna steal Janet's first suggestion from the thread:
"Can you download VLC and see if you have the same problem with those videos using VLC for playback?"
And since this is most likely driver related, could you let us know what sound driver version you are running? -
I also have this problem, no sound at all in Miro. I played a few of the videos in Winamp and hear the audio in each. Worked yesterday then just stopped.
Also using Vista (Service Pack 1 installed) and got a Realtek soundcard -
Inappropriate?same problem and now miro wont start up

Inappropriate? There are actually quite a few active Vista specific tickets in our bugzilla system that need to be addressed – just take a look – the best answer I can give you is that they will be fixed as soon as possible.
One thing you can do to help speed up the process is to write a detailed report or provide additional commentary to these bugs in the bugzilla system so the people making these fixes can stay in direct contact with you and work through the problem faster.
I’m hoping this helps

Inappropriate?POSSIBLE WORKAROUND:
OK a little update - i found that if I play a video it will not have sound. However if hit the Stop icon and the play it again the sound works and Miro shows up in the mixer as expected.
MORE INFO FOR DEVS:
I have a quad-core Q600 on a Nvidia 790i chipset motherboard from EVGA. The soundcard driver is the latest from EVGA - Realtek High Definition Audio driver by Realktek Semiconductor Corp v6.0.1.5548, 1/15/2008. I dont think it is in fact the driver - I suspect its some sort of threading bug that exhibits itself due the multiple cores since it fails to start the first time but starts afterwards (if there are threads involved and I see 21 threads in my Miro.exe process - it could be a race condition between the player and a sound initialization task...). I am running Vista x64 Service Pack 1 and I have the K-Lite Codec Pack for x64 installed. -
Thanks for the follow up :) -
Inappropriate?Fuge. Having same problem with XP pro. But now! I do not have any sound at all. Op.system unable to see hardware. OH, having problem with server / e.mail. Don't think the two are related.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Doesn't the embedded VLC thingy carry over VLC settings? Have you tried playing the files with VLC and changing the audio output settings and copying a working configuration over? ?

Inappropriate?I get sound with ALL OTHER PROGRAMS on My Vista 32 Home Premium system, but not with MIRO. Once upon a time I got sound but no longer. Someone once suggested that the problem may be the ASIO driver, or the RealAudio driver, but I have the most recent Codec updates. Any suggestions?

Inappropriate?my vista miro has no sound (just close and reopen video and sound will be present.
My problem is miro has to be reinstalled after each closure of if not soon enough miro stops working with error message( month s now). version doesn't matter or if uninstall old. -
Inappropriate?I,too, had this problem. Then I downloaded VLC and made it my default media player, installed the latest update of MIRO, and everything works fine.
I’m satisfied
