Miro won't shut down with Windows; have to kill process
Whenever I shut down (or restart) my computer, I get an "Ending Program" alert from Windows... It seems that Miro is not getting the signal from Windows to close, so Windows has to end the process itself. This happens every time I've restarted or shut down, since I installed Miro a few months ago. It didn't really bother me before, but it does now, and I can't find any similar problems via a Google search or on the Miro support forums. I'm running XP Service Pack2, with a wired connection to my router for internet.

Inappropriate?I have vista home premium and i can't see the other half of the page or expand it to where I can see it. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Inappropriate? The best thing to do is to open a bug report - please read https://develop.participatoryculture.... and then be sure to include the log file in your bug. If you post a link the bug here - others can then add any additional information to the report.

Inappropriate?Hi there,
Is there any solution yet? I also have the same problem as jamin described. Mine is Vista Home Premium 64bits.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Same problem with Miro ignoring the Windows shutdown signal.
As I noted in my post on this, one side effect of Windows killing Miro, rather than an orderly exit, is that Miro is that it doesn't save any preference settings that have been changed in the current session.
Also, when trying to close Miro from the taskbar Icon, I have noticed that the popup menu will flicker so violently that the "Exit" option is hard to read, it's almost as if Miro is getting thousands of mousedown events on the taskbar icon.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Having the same problem as well. Any word on when this will get fixed?

Inappropriate? Not being sure how software development is done at Miro. This error seems to exist for more that a year now. Is there anyone from Miro reading these? Or is getsatisfaction all about ignoring customers? Odd
I’m not happy

Inappropriate?I would suggest using the pre2.0 nightly builds as they dont appear to have this problem on mine wheras the old 1.2.x did. http://www.getmiro.com/blog/2009/01/m...
Goodluck

Inappropriate? All of our development resources have been focused on the 2.0 branch, where (I think) this problem has been fixed.
Is anyone here experiencing the same bug in the 2.0 preview (check the link in the comment above)? -
Actually on Miro 2.0 the problem occurs when one wants to close miro. Vista claims that Miro is "hung". But a nice try anyway. -
Inappropriate? There is an open bug on this: http://bugzilla.pculture.org/show_bug...
I see this sometimes on my vista system, but not every time. I have yet to succeed at making it happen at will. Please but any additional information you have in the bug report listed above. -
Inappropriate? From the testing I did on my WinXP machine, I was able to stop the issue by using one of the following options.
1) I enabled the tray icon from the options and right-clicked on the tray icon, then selected 'quit' from there.
2) selecting 'quit' from the File menu
*Previously I did not have the tray icon enabled and instead I was using the "x" on the titlebar to exit. -
This is not a true solution, not even a workaround. When Miro starts with windows, it must stop with windows. That's why we automate things. -
Inappropriate?I tested this yesterday with windows (vista) and our most recent nightly build and was unable to reproduce. Prior to our upgrade to vlc 1.0 in trunk, I was having regular miro shutdown issues on the same machine.
I believe this should be resolved in the latest nightly build (and rc1) which can be downloaded from http://pculture.org/nightlies.
I'd love to hear back if it works for you too. -
Inappropriate?Well, the shutdown problem seems to be solved now, but another problem still persists:
When Miro quits on shutdown, it doesn't save the options. They are saved when you use quit from the menu, and they should be saved on shutdown too.
