Inappropriate?Hi Golthran,
is there sound if you use another external player? Sometimes missing codecs causing such problems. -
BTW, Pan I know you've been helping on the forums and I'm positive we've talked before, but I just wanted to reiterate my appreciation. It's really great to have more eyeballs here on GS — especially with the torrent of questions coming in from 2.0. Feel free to ping me directly if you ever need anything: dean at pculture dot org -
Hi Dean, thanks for you kind comment and your offer.
It was a pleasure testing and if I'd the time I think trying to help others is what makes opensource and a community. Currently I'm developing for my website, but if I've the time I'm browsing in this forum and if I think an answer might be helpful I write it down :)
Miro 2.0 was stable in the last weeks on my system, but when I find a bug or thought that a feature would be useful, a report in the bugtracker is be sure.
Currently I'm using opensuse 11.0 - in version 11.1 python 2.6 and 3.0 replaced version 2.5.x
Ok, one question about that (I've already filled my experiences in a bug report) Does miro run with python 2.6? Are there plans for python 3.0 which is quite different from the 2.x versions. -
You know, I don't know about the possibility of a python 3 upgrade — hop in the chat room (there's a link to it under the "open source" header on the site, or go to #miro-hackers on freenode.net) and ask one of the devs willguaraldi or bdk would probably know. -
I've read last week an article about python 3. Miro uses some C extensions and because these have to be revised (only recompiling them would not help) it will take some time until v3 will be an issue - in about one year was the opinion of the author.
But with python2.6 miro now runs - I'd a segmentation fault and reported it in bugzilla and a comment from beo resolved it. -
Inappropriate?and/or maybe try other files from various channels in Miro? Please share what you find.
