How do you create user sets?
I have an account and signed in, and have been trying for 10 minutes to figure out how to create a user set. It says "your user sets" so I'm assuming this is possible?!?

Inappropriate?Hi Allison,
You simply hover over any of the images in the Tap or in another user set and click the (+) sign that appears in the upper left hand corner of the image. There you can define the name of the user set :)

Thanks very much for your reply Matthew. I think you have a discoverability issue in terms of learning how to create a user set. Apparently the only way you can create one is by adding an image to it, and choosing to "Create new set." You have to know that hovering over an image in just the right place for just the right lengthy of time exposes this functionality. I'm on FF3 on Mac OS 10.5 and sometimes the pluses show up well, usually after I've gotten one to show up, but sometimes they don't at first. this may just be an issue with this functionality being buggy, but I never saw any pluses yesterday. I tried several times clicking on the image itself to see if "save to set" was underneath it at all, and never saw the plus sign. Also, I would assume that there would be a way to add a new set in the "User Sets" section, or at least explanation that the only way to add a user set is to add an image & to create a new set as part of that process. Thanks! Allison -
Inappropriate?Hi Allan,
Pattern Tap is currently allowing submissions by email (yo at patterntap dot come). At some point in the near future we'll allow submissions by a form, but we're not likely to allow full on user contributions without limit. The focus of Pattern Tap is maintain an extremely high level of quality, and therefore set ourselves apart from some of the other galleries that have menial quality.
We'd LOVE to see your submissions though, so please do send them. In the next couple of months you'll see the new submission form and also you're username we'll appear with the images you contribute so that you can get credit for them :)
Thanks!
Matthew

Inappropriate?Gotta get skitch integration or allow an rss feed to import images from flickr. I have a pro account for this http://www.flickr.com/photos/ispypurd...

Inappropriate?Allan, we've talked with Skitch and other screenshot apps about that kind of integration. We've also thought about flickr integration. The issue arises with our section/tag setup. We want to maintain great care over that distinctive naming schema.
We are making money on this project, so new ideas are great, but we are carefully assessing which of them deserve priority since we are paying for this out of pocket.
Keep the good ideas coming!

Inappropriate?I was trying to create a set of images that I've got on my desktop and I still can't figure out how to upload these images and create a set. I really want to like pattern tap, but your making it hard for me

Inappropriate?Hi thedeplorableword,
The reason it might be confusing is because Pattern Tap isn't the right tool for you if you're looking to upload your own images. We allow submissions, and soon we'll have a whole new way of making that extremely easy, but in the meantime, we're not scrnshots.com. We aren't accepting just any ol images but have a strict quality control. This is helping us keep a tight reign on design inspiration.
If you go to weheartit.com, or scrnshots.com, or even flickr, you'll quickly see how ungaurded image uploads can go wrong. I'd love to have you submit your images to the tap, and hopefully we can approve them!
Soon you'll be able to submit them, and if approved, they can go straight to your sets. In the meantime, I find flickr EXTREMELY useful for collecting the way you are trying to :))
Thanks,
Matthew

Hey Matt,
I realised that after a bit of searching, I just though that the high quality of patterns was coming from the community not just the staff. It's quality resource :) -
Inappropriate?thedeplorableword,
Great! Glad you think so too. Feel free to rate Pattern Tap, and share the resource with others. Also, let us know ways you think we can improve. We're all ears!
I’m happy
