Default billing rate should be set per client as well as overall default
It is a bit of a pain adding new projects - I have different rates for different clients (not as dodgy as it sounds - some long standing clients who have committed to taking a lot of work from me get a reduced rate) - so what I would like is to be able to set a default rate per client in addition to the overall default (which would only then be used if no rater had been set for a client).

When adding a project you can set a specific price/hour for that project ( which by default is filled in with your default price/hour ). If that project has a bigger/lower rate because of a particular client, you can change it. This step ads only 1-2 seconds to the process and since you don't add projects each hour we think it's not such an important thing and would overcomplicate things

I can't say I agree. It would of course make add complication for the programmers but for users it makes life easier - and that is the point of software isn't it. As it is I have to keep looking up the different client rates when I add a project for them - now entering the rate may take 1-2 seconds but going off and finding it takes more. And even though I am applying new projects from a template project for that client which does have their rate in it the rate from the template is ignored.
Don't get me wrong - I like this software and appreciate it - but I thought the whole idea of beta feedback was to try to make things even better -
Inappropriate? When i said "over-complicate" i didn't mean it from our point of view ( it's not hard to code this feature ), i meant it from a user point of view, imagine, you would have "default price per hour", then "default price for each client", then "price for each project". I think this will confuse users.

I can't say I would find a "default hierarchy" confusing or overcomplicated - however you are obviously dead set against the idea and it's your product! -
Inappropriate?nothing is set in stone :)
if more users vote for this feature we will look into it.
However i am thinking ahead a bit because many of our users asked for price/user and price/task because not every time the price is related only to the project.
We plan to add these features and when we do we will try to accommodate all the requests but still keep this application simple -
I can see the logic in that. For a single user (like myself) I can imagine a hierarchy such as this working well:
Default company billing rate
-> Create new client, client billing rate gets company default but can be changed
-> Create new project, project gets default client billing rate but can be changed
-> Create new task, task gets default project rate but can be changed
Once you add in the multiple users per company I can see this can get a lot more complex. And I can see that would be important for companies with multiple workers as I am sure they will often have different rates - and multi user companies have to be your major dev target as they are the payer's! -
Inappropriate?I would also like the ability to set my rate per client or project. Most of my clients get different rates - either because I started with them at a lower rate than I charge now or because they get a deal for long-term work. It would be nice to set a default for those clients in the future.
Just wanted to chime in to let you know that others want this too.
I’m hopeful.

Inappropriate? But you can, each project has a setting called "Price Per Hour"
-
Inappropriate?I know I can set the price individually for each project. What I want is a function where I can set a default hourly rate for each client.
