Secure Cards Cannot Be Generated
When trying to generate a secure card from the PayPal plug in, I get an error and told to try again later.
When I contacted Pay-Pal about this issue, I was told to reinstall my Plug In.
This happens on numerous computers. I have installed and reinstalled on multiple computers.
It is a problem with the account on the PayPal site, NOT the plug-in.
Other users can use my computer to generate secure cards on their account.
The last time I wrote I was told that my account was fine.
I am not the only one with this problem, yet PayPal keeps telling me to chase my tail with the Plug In.
HELP.. it is a problem with hundreds (if not thousands) of users (per research via search engines.)
Anyone found the "magic key" to get this working?

Inappropriate?Hi Rad Moose-
Please email me at paypaljason@ebay.com with your account's email address and the first and last name on your account. I'll pass this matter along to our technical team to troubleshoot. Can you also send me your operating system and internet service provider?
Thanks,
PayPal Jason -
Inappropriate?Hi Rad Moose-
This issue is being worked on for resolution. We have a site update planned for this week that should resolve the situation.
Thank you for bringing this instance to my attention. It helps with our techincal group's troubleshooting when we can offer specific examples of a situation and the elements that may impact a specific account's performance.

Inappropriate?Thank you for the response...
Will it be announced publicly when the site update is completed?
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Hi RAD Moose-
The site was updated last night, please let me know if you're still having trouble.
Thanks,
PayPal Jason -
Inappropriate?Same issue.
"Your request could not be processed at this time, please try again later."
I’m disappointed.
-
Inappropriate?I'm going to guess that this may be related to some type of strange database setup with PayPal's account manager. As a developer and intensive user of PayPal's services, I've had many issues of this type in the past and currently. Although I do use them quite a bit, I'm incredibly unhappy with the level of functionality and service/support they provide—there just never seems to be anyone "home"—and their suggestions are often poorly thought-out, if thought-out at all.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I was able to generate a Secure Card right after the 'update' of the site.
However, I just went to go into the secure cards areas using my 'plug-in' and I am getting the same error again.
I wish the plug-in wasn't required, but in any case, the problem is back again =/
I’m disappointed (again)

Inappropriate?Hi RAD Moose-
I know we emailed back and forth a couple of months ago, but I delete prior emails after concluding communication to further protect account information. Can you email me your name and PayPal email address to PayPalJason@ebay.com again?
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Same problem :\
It used to work for me.. and it's not the browsers/stuff on my end.
What changed was: I since removed a bank account, but then I added another one- and confirmed it. That may have triggered something.. i'm not sure. But it's really, really frustrating.

Inappropriate?Saw these posts, have same problem, emailed Jason at PayPal since no one else has been able to assist at PayPal. If anything good happens I will let you know. Very frustrating.

Inappropriate?Hi StillKickin-
The most recent update I've received from our technical team is that if the Plug In was installed and the browser has been upgraded or changed since its initial download, that uninstalling it and then reinstalling could resolve the problem.
Please keep me posted here, as it's through troubleshooting what works and doesn't work that we can narrow down the causes of errors.
Thanks,

HI Jason,
I'm having the same problem as above since early December. I have called tech support and they told me its not my account its the plugin.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin many times and even when the plugin is not installed I can log into my account an get the same error. I have a new computer in the house that I just tried a fresh install of the plugin...same results.
Any more suggestions...very frustrated.
Thanks! -

1. I uninstalled the plug in
2. made sure windows had lastest upgrades
3. asked paypal to link to my bank checking account (a re-link)
4. PayPal made two small deposits to my checking acct which showed
up in Bank of America in about two days.
4. Typed the two small deposits in the PayPal plug in link to add bank account.
4. After about one day PayPal sent a WELCOME TO PAYPAL email and the PlugIn was functional again.
I don't know why I had to re-do all this as I have been using PayPal for several years but this worked. I hope this comment might save you some trouble.
When I called customer service they never mentioned re-linking to my bank account. Good Luck. -
Inappropriate? Thanks Jason. I re-intalled the plugin, re-added my bank's checking acct info and waited to see the two small deposits from PayPal. Entered the deposits in the plugin and the next day (not right away) the plugin started working again. Whatever you did to help suceeded. I hope the plugin stays working.
I’m thankful

Hey Stillkickin,
Thanks for the reply...
I have done all the above except when I re-add my bank account it says I'm already verified. (I have a checking account not savings) I delete the checking account and then add it again and it says "verified" and I'm back to square one again. Any thing else I should try?
Thanks! -
fastracer - If you did all that and it shows your bank account is verified in your financial info 'bank account' page then I am out of ideas. You added the two small deposits in your bank account to let PayPal know you were hooked up with the bank, right?
I assume you got the WELCOME to PayPal email after about a day, right?
Wonder if you can close this PayPal account and start a different one with a new password etc.. I know the plugin finally works for me with Windows but I saw a lot of negative comments from folks with Mozilla and other systems.
I hope Jason from PayPal will come up with an answer for you.
Good Luck ! Hope you get the plugin to work. -
I've had the same Paypal account since 2003...but only had a credit card attached to it. Sometime around Nov. '08 I added my bank account info....it had been previously been verified with my wifes payapal account. I removed it from her account in November and added it to my Paypal account. It did not ask for the 2 small deposits (like it did when i added it to my wifes account) but asked me if I wanted to verify instantly. I chose instantly and it let me log into my bank account thru paypal and verified my right then and there. So thats where I'm at...not sure if that has anthing to do with it.
What I did yesterday is added some money from my bank account to to my paypal and when it clears i will test the plugin again...hopefully that will help.
Also my friend came by last night and he used my plugin with his account info and the plugin worked WITH NO PROBLEMS!! So it is my account thats the problem.
Thanks again for the reply back. -
Inappropriate?Jason...
I had to change out hard drives, and therefore needed to reinstall XP, Firefox and teh PayPal plug-in. Of course, I am now getting the same error again (as showing in the picture earlier in my discussion.)
I checked my funding info and all other info on my account and it looks ok.
Now what?
(I REALLY wish PayPal would get away from requiring a plug in to use the one-time use 'secure' credit cards.)
I’m disappointed.
-
Inappropriate?I have had the same issue for several months now. I called paypal and was told that 'this is an ongoing problem and there is no resolution timeframe". *sigh* Its been two months now and I still cannot use a secure card. So very frustrating. After these two months of issues, I am really thinking of just leaving paypal all together.
Pamela
I’m still disgusted with paypal.

re: plug in secure card problems.
I went thru this before and stopped following this problem hoping that what happened to me might help others. It appears that everyone is still stuck in frustration as I was about 1 month ago. In case you didn't read my comment here goes another one:
I unintalled the plug in.
Upgraded to the lastest windows update.
reinstalled the plug in
linked my bank account to paypal (the two small deposits that come in to your checking in a few days then have to then be added to your account info in PayPal.
Then I set my credit card as the primary and left the checking account as backup.
After a couple of days I got a WELCOME TO PAYPAL email.
NOTE: I was a customer for YEARS using the plugin before all this mess happened.
Then after I got the email, the plugin started working again.
Pay Pal customer service NEVER told me about re-linking the bank account.
Anyway, I don't think you have to have a credit card as long as your checking account is attached (in case you need this info).
During this time I was so ticked off at PayPal that I was using Google checkout. But Google checkout didn't work on all sites.
I wish you the best of luck with getting your plugin to work.
I finally go back to the plug-in after re-linking it to my bank checking account and having my credit card as primary.
I think you can just use your checking account if it applies to you.
For awhile I was using Google checkout, if PayPal plugin wont fly for you, there's always Google checkout. -
I spent over an hour on the phone with 2 levels of tech support and got no where! I tried removing the plugin and reinstalling to get the 2 small deposits but everytime I do it it says my bank account has already been verified. I even had paypal remove it and it still says I'm verified. They told me they have it as a high priority and I will get emailed as as soon as there is a fix. I've been dealing with this since before the holidays, so who knows if and when this will ever get fixed. Thanks to all the comments and if I do hear something I will sure pass it along! -
Inappropriate?I had to reformat and reinstall Windows Vista a few months ago, this time the 64 bit edition, and haven't been able to generate a secure card since. When I tried to do it from the paypal web site, I received this message: Your request could not be processed at this time, please try again later. Please get this working.
I’m annoyed
-
Inappropriate?I have had the same exact problem as RAD Moose, I tried all of the above, I even called Paypal and had them add my bank account for me and it still does work. After hours and hours on the phone with Paypal and trying to get this fixed I give up. I was even told my case was going to be sent to technical support and it would be fixed within 2 days it has been a month since then.
Please Paypal get this fixed, I used to use the Secure Cards alot!
Thanks!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Still having the same problem. I'm on a Mac, so, like the government, their web technology is about 10 years out-of-date. Secure cards still don't work, and plugins still aren't available for anything but Windows. Getting the same error as everyone else above. No solution. BAD Paypal. I've just taken a major client ($20K per month in PayPal sales) and converted her site to use Authorize.net because of problems like this which remain unresolved. It just seems like they are just too big to care anymore!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? From what I have read on the payapl forum secure cards has been discontinued.I wish the paypal customer service lady had told me this when I was going through hell trying to figure out why I couldn't get it to work. You would think their customer service reps would know about changes made to their companys policies.
I racked up some charges on my cellphone just trying to fix it.
