I am trying to grant a user permissions to create new folders. It appears that this may be a function that can only be performed by Administrators. If I am seeing this correctly it seems odd as users with Editor permissions are able to rename and delete folders. Can anyone tell me if I am seeing this correctly.
It's simple, the WYSIWYG editor is nothing for me. I prefer to write down wiki markup, it messes with keyboard shortcuts, and it copies styles when 99% of the time I *don't* want that, etc.
I built a table in Word2007 and saved it as html. I opened it in FireFox and saved the source code. Then I opened my Front Page, opened the editor and switched to Classic Mode. I pasted the whole code set into an area near the end of the Front Page code. when I saved it all the original Front Page content was there. Ok, so far so good.
I saw some issues to correct and clicked "Edit Page" and in a blink the edit interface opened without all the content that had been on the page before the new code was pasted in. Yikes!
I was able to restore the content with the history interface (Whew.. thanks you, pbwiki) but I duplicated the steps AND the problem occurred again. I hit the back key and got the content back in this case because I hadn't saved.
Others have written about problems switching editors, I believe. What happened?
I inserted a google gadget into my 2.0 wiki page then saved, only to realize that I had made a typo in the script source...
when I went to edit the page and double clicked on the the gadget, the > and < symbols had all been encoded... when I made a change to the typo and hit finish and then saved, the plugin was all messed up.
A couple of disclaimers...
Once you hit save, the page is converted to pbwiki 2.0 style html, so it's "write only"... but you can still use it to add more content... I had fun using this to edit pages where all I wanted to do was insert [links].
additionally, it appears to strip plugins, so it's really best for plain test pages that you'd like to use WikiStyle to quickly create or edit.
hope this is useful.. It's probably the closest thing we're going to get to old fashion wikistyle in pbwiki 2.0 for quite a while..
When I paste text in the page editor from emails or Frontpage, using either the "source" tag or the "html" productivity plugin, the resulting text is reformatted. The fonts, highlighting, text size all change and sometimes text is moved from one place to another in the document.
Is there another way to accomplish this other than re-keying the text?
