I like to be able to search the content of attached files (*.doc, *.pdf, *.txt, *.tex etc) for a word. PBwiki has an editor search of its pages. Can the functionality be extended? How can I put a search engine like Google desktop search on my wiki?
I'm running Firefox 3 RC2 (Mac) and the search box (pbwiki 2) doesn't work correctly. Every character typed appears twice. This behavior doesn't happen in Safari or Firefox 2 (Windows).
Search is like doing a search in quotes on Google?
Unless I am wrong, then this is a hindrance to take up of our business wiki by users. I have just tested v1 & v2. Our problem is that generally we want search results to be weighted:
Exact match (excluding case) (i.e. words appear together and in the same order)
All words appear in title
All words appear in title or text
We can't let Google in as it is a private business wiki and so needs credentials. So am I right, if so, are there any plans to "improve" the search?
The business case is that the WIKI is getting large and users are not finding things quickly, which is reducing the effectiveness and adoption of the WIKI. I had just assumed the search would be Googlesque.
Currently, If I rename a page that is referenced by many other pbwiki pages, there will be alot of dead links on those pages due to the name change.
Wouldn't it be a nice idea to automaticly rename all the referenced links to the renamed page as well? Or, for that matter, a searchbutton which gathers all the pages containing a link to a certain page?
I would like a more fine-grained control of my search page. Specifically, I would like to filter the search results based on a tag. This would be awesome especially for larger wikis.
I am having problems with my pbwiki - I have searched all over and cannot find any easy ways to find out the answers - or easy help for how to edit the wiki - yes, I've used yummy, wikistyle, advancedwikistyle, etc.....
Anyway, the <view> and <top> things aren't working - what do I do!?
