Can/how do I use pbwiki as an intranet only? My company already has web servers and is going to be very leery of any outside hosting regardless of security.

How do I delete the effects of a google gadget?

How do I delete the effects of a google gadget? I was easily able to remove the gadget itself but after removing it, my wiki continued to search for/connect to the audio files which included "/f/" from installing the gadget. Now, none of my audio links have sound, including the ones that worked before installing the gadget. Is there something else I need to delete or a setting I need to change? My site is http://esl-dictionary.pbwiki.com/

What if we need apostrophes in our page titles?

Ok. I know that apostrophes cannot be used in page titles (though if they are, it turns them into a silly "%27," but I wanted to start talking on possible solutions for page titles that *need* apostrophes.

I think it's fine that the urls have no apostrophes (no need!), but it is the translation to the automatic "title" of the page that is a sticky wicket. I know this doesn't sound clear, but I've made one of my wiki pages public to clarify:

It's the orange text to which I refer -- in this case, it looks sloppy if I can't use an apostrophe in the possessive sense... Is there any way we could make those titles of pages separate from the exact URL?

I want to use a wiki with multiple users in a class. I do not know their email addresses. I want them to open up a page within the wiki that I have created and edit it.

I do not want them to have to register and then invite them. Is there a quick way of sharing a password between multiple unregistered students? I am using pbwiki 2.0

I'm creating a directory of collaboration sites for my wiki, and I'd like to insert a ratings widget so that visitors can rate each of the sites/tools that are mentioned. I'm a new PBWiki user, and I can't find a plugin that works, but there are a few sites out there the offer javascript ratings widgets -- are these allowed on PBWiki? If so, how do I install them? If not, are there alternatives?

Extra HTML Coding/Code not displaying properly

I have set up a wiki for my organization and it's been wildly popular. But there is a problem with the HTML coding behind the pages. When I look at the page's source because something isn't displaying properly, I'll see something like appear 20 times, when one time would do. Also, often times, even though I select text and try to change it (say, change the font to "arial") it doesn't change. (That's why I look at the source.)

Removing buttons on a page

I'm a newbee and I'm creating a business wiki. I'd like to have it so when my readers look at my wiki (and can't edit it), they shouldn't see the side buttons (Create A Page . . . etc.) Is there a way I can remove these?

Email invites to your wiki not going through? Try this workaround!

Folks, we've noticed a lot of email invites to 2.0 wikis being eaten by various email systems.

I've outlined the steps you can take to get your users (a) Accounts and (b) access to your wiki:

(a) Get all your users set up with Accounts

1. Go to http://my.pbwiki.com and click "sign up" for a new PBwiki Account.
2. Make sure they all receive the verification email, and verify their Accounts.
3. Have your users email you from the address they used to set up the Account so you know who signed up with what email address.
4. Go to your wiki, and click on Settings in the right-hand corner, then Users.
5. Add each person's email address as a writer (or whatever access level you choose).
6. Each person should receive an email inviting them to the wiki. If not, don't worry, they still have access.

(b) Get your users access to your wiki:

1. Go to my.pbwiki.com
2. Enter the Account email and Password that was set up earlier
3. Click the name of the wiki you want to go to
4. Edit the wiki!

Note: If your users don't receive a verification email for their PBwiki Account, have them contact Support so we can get them set up.

We're working on ways to make sure these emails get delivered in the first place, but in the meantime, this is a reliable way to get everyone onboard.
