A tool to migrate/merge content between wikis (v1 or v2)
ok... so I made this tool to copy content around between wikis... this is a beta release so it hasn't been tested in a ton of ways, but it worked pretty well for me.
You can use this to copy pages from one wiki to another... it may pick up your internet explorer pbwiki login and be able to edit wikis for you automatically, but if it can't then there's the option to login with your email/password...
the link for the tool is here:
http://copytest.pbwiki.com/f/VisualWi...
Given time, you could use it to copy a wiki...
like this one for instance... http://tsots.pbwiki.com
to http://copytest.pbwiki.com or... to be extra fancy, to a 2.0 wiki like http://copytest2.pbwiki.com
The somewhat manual nature of the copy should make it slow enough that you wouldn't trigger any pbwiki spam filters (a problem with bulk copy scripts that I've created in the past) so it should work well... very curious to hear your thoughts...
c# source code available on request. :)

Inappropriate?I was very excited to see this as I really can't wait for my current wiki to be upgraded to a 2.0 version. It's a great idea. Unfortunately, there is a problem with the package and it will not open/run on my computer (get an error message everytime). Oh well, guess I have to transfer everything the slow way. Copy and paste here I come!

Inappropriate?would you mind telling me what the error is that you get? I'm not sure how this works with private wikis exactly, but I've managed to get this to work on 3 different machines with public wikis.

turns out I was able to post to private wikis, but not download them... your milage may vary... -
Inappropriate? My wikis are private but I didn't get that far. When I attempted to install the program, it says that "Visual Wiki has encountered a problem and needs to close" then it asks me if I would like to report this problem to Microsoft. The Microsoft report says that it is EventType: clr20r3 (if that helps?).

I think that's what happens if you don't have all the DLLs in the same directory as the executable... are you unzipping the file before trying to launch it? -
Inappropriate?just uploaded a new version of this that is ok with non-public wikis... enjoy
-
Inappropriate?Ok.. this is a version in a self-extracting zip, so anybody who was trying to launch it directly from inside the downloaded zip won't get crashes.. hopefully that will make things a bit easier for folks..
