Add User invitation emails going missing
I have been inviting users to join my Wiki using the Add Users by email page. Some users have complained that they have never received the invitation email. Is this a known problem ? I have no way of knowing exactly which users have received the email and clicked on the link and which have not. Can I be cc'ed on the invitation emails so that I know they have been sent and so that I can resend if necessary. Also I could do with a resend invite facility within the wiki.
This is an urgent problem as it is effecting more users than I would have expected.

Inappropriate? That's no fun at all! Can you tell me if you're using a 2.0 beta wiki, or a regular 1.0 wiki? Right now, there are different ways of helping you send out invites between the different wiki versions.

Inappropriate?I'm using a regular 1.0 wiki.

Inappropriate?Hmm. I just found the question you had in the help ticket thread, so maybe it's your VPN blocking it again.
If your users don't have PBwiki Accounts, they won't show up on the Users page, so that's not very helpful. It looks like there's a way to make sure everyone at least has ACCESS, but will depend on you communicating to them to go to the wiki individually.
If you go to Settings | Keys and Access, and set the Contributor Invite Key, then go to Access Via Email, you can set up the @yourcompany.com email address. This is how the page explains it:
If this wiki's access-by-email setting is @example.com then anyone who can receive an email at example.com would be able to access this wiki. When prompted to log in, users will have the option to enter an email address to which PBwiki will mail a specially encoded URL, and they'll receive Contributor access.
So what you can do then is just send out one email to your coworkers telling them the wiki's URL and that they have to enter their work email address. If there are people outside your company who also need to have access, you can add them individually through the "Add Users" box on the Users page, which I think you're already familiar with. You may try turning off the VPN to add users manually, see if that works better.
Wikipedia says the following in its entry on VPN:
"More common is that bringing up the secure VPN cuts off Internet connectivity for any use except secure communications into the enterprise; Internet access is still possible but will go through enterprise access rather than that of the local user."
So I'm going to guess you have a VPN that doesn't like PBwiki and Salesforce, which is why you have been having problems.
I’m hoping this helps

Inappropriate? The users of our Wiki are mostly outside of our company and will have very different email addresses. So your suggestion will not work.
The VPN is between my PC and our Proxy. The invite emails go from your server to the recipients email server, not via my VPN. I can access any web site on the internet via the VPN which is why I am able to invite people in the first place. I have just conducted a test both via the vpn and without the vpn and in both cases I received the invite. This is an intermittent problem somewhere between you sending the email and the recipient receiving the email. If you could cc me on the emails that go out at least I could prove whether or not the emails were sent.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Hi,
You're right, if you can get the message to invite to our servers, then the problem is then between getting the email from our servers to the other users. What may be happening, however, is that certain domains may be blocking emails from PBwiki, thinking that they may be spam or something. In those particular cases, your best chance might be to send an email yourself.
You're probably sending out emails with the magic URL, right? If this is the case, you could just create your own email and insert the URL there. How do you get this URL? Well, you can go into your "Settings," then click the "Sharing" link on the right hand side, and magic URL's for each user level will be available.
Hope that's helpful,

Inappropriate?Vu,
I'm not an expert on spam filtering but I notice that the emails use my email address as the from address. I wonder if there are some other headers that point to PBWiki.com, so when a spam filter sees a message from me, but sent from a different domain, certain spam filters mark the message as spam. This is only a theory, like I said, I'm not an expert in these matters. Do you have someone at PBWiki who knows about this sort of stuff?
-
Inappropriate?Also...
No I'm not using the magic URL. I'd like each use to have their own account so that I have some granular control over access rights. I though that was the way the PBWiki were encouraging people to do it now?
I can't send out my own invite email, as the system generated invite contains a url with a unique id and key. I hear from one of my users that if they create their own account they see the invite on screen, so at least I have a work around for now. However, that doesn't make this problem any less urgent.

Inappropriate?Well, if users have made their accounts and you've confirmed they've shown up in the user list (Settings -> Users), you could just send them an email inviting them to the wiki.
I've made a note of this problem because I think I've seen one other person mention it recently, so we'll try our best to track it down.
Thanks for your patience!
