Can we somehow get user donations?
Right now, wiki's can only be upgraded a whole year at a time. I've got people who would like to donate $5 here and there, but nobody who's willing to drop the minimal $100ish for a whole year upgrade. Is there some way users could donate towards upgrading the wiki? Even if it was just a single-month payment option

Hi there! If you have an annual plan, you can see how much time is left here: wikiname.pbwiki.com/extend.php
(replace wikiname with your real wiki name)
You can also extend your plan right there. Note that PayPal plans are billed differently and don't work with extend.php.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Giltwist, we don't support group donations for Premium, but there are some better options:
1. We *do* support monthly payments. Use the Paypal box on your upgrade page to find it.
2. There are third-party solutions that would let you collect money. (You can find them by searching for "group donations," etc.) Once you get the money, you can upgrade and your Premium features will be enabled immediately. -
Inappropriate?Do you mean https://example.pbwiki.com/upgrade.php? I only see the options to add extra features. Or does the monthly payment option only appear when the account is expired? Ideally, I'd to not have to wait until the account expires to have money go into its upkeep.

Inappropriate? Is that your wiki? If so, I clicked through and it appears to be a free wiki. If you see the second (Paypal) box, you'll see the monthly option.
If that was just an example, then your wiki might already be upgraded. In that case, there's no easy way to do this and I'd just recommend collecting the money until your renewal time comes up. -
Inappropriate?Yeah, that was just an example. I appreciate the help so far. Is there a page where I can see how long is left on the current subscription? That way I could maybe do a donation drive a month or so before expiration. Also, it would be really great if I didn't have to wait til expiration to renew.

Inappropriate?I still like the idea of getting user donations... that would be awesome. They could donate until the due date and if you go over the limit it could perhaps go to the next due date. If not than I will pay the difference not that I don't plan on paying at all I'd put in a certain amount at the beginning anyway. There should be a meter also showing how much more is needed. This will especially be useful for non profit sites who wants to update!

Inappropriate? This is an area I struggle with... When they rolled out the "sell access to your wiki" this worked great for me because I could set a small amount that everyone had to contribute in order to keep the wiki going. This beta feature ended suddenly and I haven't gotten much money since.
I use a "donate to PayPal" button on my wiki but it doesn't get much use.
I think PBWiki needs to recognize that non-businesses need the premium features and some need a way to collect "dues" from users. I'll probably let my subscription run to the end of the year and then look at moving away. Google just launched their "Sites" product (I guess wiki is a dirty word around Google) which might be an interesting competitor.
I’m sad PBWiki doesn't do this better
