I would like to create a box of white space with text in it ---- where is the vertical bar on my keyboard???? The sandbox shows using a vertical line ???

The only editor that uses the breakout box is the classic editor in PBwiki 1.0. That editor is text-only, and uses the WikiStyle syntax. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to insert breakout boxes in PBwiki 2.0, although you could just insert it into a table with only one row and one column.
