Do you know about the CSS bug in IE6 over search box?
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate? This doesn't seem to happen with the default "Snakeskin" skin. Can you help us by identifying what skin your wiki is using? Are you using a custom skin?

Inappropriate?FYI
I just received this (response below) from Paul.
This was very confusing. I simply filled out a contact form at pbWiki. When it was over, I was told my ticket was submitted, but then I was automatically sent here, to GetSatisfaction, with no explanation whatever. How was I to know that my ticket was processed, but I was being sent here, also? I had no clue what was happening--and in fact, am still not sure.
To improve the user experience, you really need to clearly explain GetSat on the support contact page, and let the user opt into it. If i were just an ordinary user, and not a developer, i would probably already be annoyed and leave.
========== Paul's reply to my bug report ==========
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, I'll pass this to our UI folks to make sure they get resolved - I'll keep this case open until they resolve it. Just FYI - it's near the end of the business day here in California so I may not get this resolved till early Monday morning.
Thanks again.
Paul

Inappropriate?I'm sorry if the experience was confusing. We've just started using Satisfaction a few days ago and are working on the best way to leverage effectively it alongside our existing email / ticketing system. Thanks for letting us know that it seemed awkward; I've let Paul (our Director of Support, who you quoted below) know.

Inappropriate?David,
I responded to Paul by email, telling him that my skin was "minimalist." Sorry for the delay. Sleep intrudes on my schedule sometimes :)
I can provide a screen grab, if you tell me where to send it. -
Inappropriate?Oops.
The problem is NOT just IE, but Firefox (on ubuntu) as well. I was not logged in on that machine, earlier. -
Inappropriate?I examined your source. One easy fix to consider is to just add margin-top: 8px to the "id="search-box" element. You might want to adjust other header elements to fine tune it.
-
Inappropriate?Hypereal* has similar problems with the searchbox in Firefox, Ubuntu and IE
Further, the login span (id=ubadge), which has an absolute position, is overlapping your theme's right borders and really looks cheesy. You need a right margin of at least 40pixels in Hyperreal, and probably the other themes, as well
Finally, in Hyperreal* (and probably others), the id="sub-menu-right" element (Add features, settings, help), is also encroaching on the Search wiki text box.
Sheesh. This is turning into real work. Give me an account, and I'll really get into this :)
* I meant to write "qua" theme. Sorry.
I’m unconcerned

Inappropriate?MY MISTAKE
Where I refer to "Hypereal" above, I meant the theme, "Qua" Sorry
Hyperreal has a different issue. The padding in display-content must be increased, as your title is butted up to the borders.
Multiple themes needs a lot of testing, in a lot of browsers. I don't have the time for Safari, Opera, Konqueror, but I presume someone is looking :)
-
Inappropriate?Incidently, "Qua" is a nice, simple skin for those who like the brushed aluminum look and feel, but the blue gel buttons slammed on that texture looks so 1997 Highschool HTML class. A much simpler default button would be much more appealing for corporate work (imho)
-
Inappropriate? No changes to any skins yet. It really looks crappy.
-
Inappropriate?Okay, I've reproduced the overlap. You're right that on the Minimalist skin, the login badge overlaps the top few pixels of the search box. I've notified our designer to see if a quick tweak of adding some padding, such as you suggest, would be an effective fix. Thanks for reporting this!
