How did your school react to using wikis in class?
How did your IT department and your principal react when you began using PBwiki in class?
What did you do to convince them?

Wow! Here are some suggestions:
1) Take him/her to the PBwiki homepage show him around.
2) Print out some of our educator handouts and given them to him/her.
3) Take him/her to the educator site (educators.pbwiki.com) and show him what online collaboration on a wiki looks like - have him edit a page to see how easy it is!
Good luck, it looks like you have your work cut out for you!

Inappropriate? They were actually very supportive, but our computers were ancient history and I had to bring in my own lap tops to use. My students and I gave a presentation to the board with the superintendent's blessings, and that really helped. My students showed them what could be done, and they were all impressed. From that point til now, I have had support.

Inappropriate?I read Will Richardson's book on using blogs wikis and podcasts in the classroom. I told my principal what I planned to do, I discussed the project with my class, and I discussed the project with parents during parent teacher conferences. The book has plenty of examples of how to help break down barriers and introduce the topic.
Here is a link to his blog. You can get the book there:
