How do comments differ from replies?
Some responses show up and others don't. The discussions under each topic seem disconnected and often don't seem to make sense when read in sequence.
Why is this so disorganized?
How could it be improved?
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate? Why some responses show up and others do not:
I was confused when someone referred to a question from Paul. The topic had been started by Paul, and several responses by Paul were also shown in the topic. The response just above the one I was reading was from Paul, but the "question from Paul" was referring to the topic initiation. I responded to express my confusion and eventually, weeks later, I got a private comment explaining why I had been confused. I hope I won't offend anyone by making it public here:
Eric Suesz commented on a reply in I just submitted a help ticket. Now what?, a question about PBwiki.
Nitpicker: You can either reply to Paul's original question -- this overall topic -- or you can add a comment. Replies go to everyone; comments go only to the person you're leaving a comment for. Hope this helps.

Oh, REPLIES are PUBLIC but COMMENTS are PRIVATE.
But, in this case, I have made a private comment rather public.
I’m excited to understand

Inappropriate? Most people don't understand this well-hidden limitation of Get Satisfaction; as a result, I have seen many conversations on threads get derailed completely by this feature. This happens when Person A makes a reply, Person B comments on that reply, and then Person A responds to Person B's comment with a second comment. Person B never gets an email notifying them of Person A's response. They are well aware of this problem; it came up in a discussion right after they rolled out the new "reply/comment" paradigm. At that time, they agreed that subsequent comments to a reply should go not only to the original replier, but also to everyone who had commented on that reply. However, it does not appear that they have made this badly-needed fix.
It should be noted that, while you will not receive an email for these follow-up comments, they will show up in your dashboard. -
Inappropriate?Re Guy Fawkes reply: What is a dashboard and how do I see one, especially mine?
Wouldn't it make sense to have a note on each comment and reply text box that comments are private and replies are public.
Actually, I would far prefer that both were public and that both accumulated at the bottom of a wiki page where the top was a coherent article explaining the import and meaning of the accumulated answers. Wikis are wonderful at this sort of accumulation of refinements.
I’m hoping for changes in Get Satisfaction

Inappropriate?Hi, guys. We absolutely want to hear what you think about this. Great conversation so far (and I do mean that sincerely). If you are so inclined, feel free to jump in on our own section and gives us feedback about it. It's not set in stone, and we can always use smart minds like yours to help us find the best way to deal with conversation-structuring details like this.
Join us in this discussion if you like. It's about our new comments feature: http://getsatisfaction.com/satisfacti...
I’m open to your suggestions

In the thread you refer to, Amy claimed, over a month ago, that "We are working to implement email notification for others who have interacted with the comment but were not the author of the original reply." So your own staff is obviously aware of the problem, *and* are supposed to be working on the solution. We don't need more discussion; we just need for GS to follow through on their stated goals, and fix it. Idle chatter is no substitute for actual progress, especially when GS and the users agree on both the problem *and* the solution. -
You are correct: We are working on it. We'll let you know when we have it updated. -
