How do I get a certain tab on the sidebar to be the default?

This thread makes me giggle. But anyway, to follow up on vangispen: if you are using the Point&Click Editor, the following code can be inserted using "Insert Plugin --> PBwiki Magic --> HTML":
<script type="text/javascript">showSidebar('sb_sb');</script>
The current form of that code will default to the SideBar. To default to the QuickStart menu, replace 'sb_sb' with 'sb_qs'. To default to the RecentActivity menu, replace 'sb_sb' with 'sb_ra'.

Why is the "Director of Support" asking this question? Aren't there other posts here asking the same question? Why start a new thread about a topic that users have already asked about? Shouldn't you just click the "I also have this question" button? Isn't that the entire *point* of this "conversation" model?
I’m confused about what's going on here

Inappropriate?Actually, the Director of Support is asking this question because he doesn't know the answer, and neither does the customer who originally asked it. If you can point to the question that answers it, I would be greatly appreciative, because I personally looked through all the other questions and could not find it. Thanks for your help!

Inappropriate? Thanks, that answered my first question. How about the rest? Why clutter up the *new* "forum" with multiple threads about the same topic when there are existing posts? Am I mis-understanding the way Get Satisfaction is intended to work?
fwiw, I seem to recall seeing the answer to this question in the old forums. It's a shame those threads didn't get migrated over here.
I’m not going to be distracted by people ignoring my questions

Inappropriate?I found the answer to this question once in the old forums, and implemented at www.WikiFOIA.pbwiki.com, but I don't remember (and couldn't find) the code anymore. The Widget Library probably has the answer... if I have a minute I'll try looking there too.

Inappropriate?Hey all-
There is an answer to this question in the old forums -

Inappropriate?Actually, vangispen, you answered this 14 days ago. Unfortunately, Get Satisfaction's search is (apparently) limited to the first 5 results, so you can't find it without browsing all 300+ topics. Get Satisfaction FTL.
I’m missing the old forum capabilities
-
Inappropriate?Yep, the old forums are useful that's why we're keeping them in place!

Inappropriate?Factually, I cannot get it to work -anymore-, so here's a new solution to make SideBar default tab. No widget library needed. Put this code at the bottom of your SideBar:
<script type="text/javascript">showSidebar('sb_sb');</script>

Inappropriate?-> Get Satisfaction's search is (apparently) limited to the first 5 results, so you can't find it without browsing all ...
We all have to get used to the new interface, it's been decided ...
However, Getsatisfaction offers an extended search facility @ the upper right corner of the screen!

And results are there, not very readable at the moment ( hey peeps, following this topic? add a linebreak or so & skip non-clickable non-working url).

Inappropriate? Thanks everyone for the feedback on search and user interface issues on this site. As heavy users of this site ourselves we here at Get Satisfaction are intimate with some of those rough edges. The good news is that we're actively working on some refinements and new features that we think will go a long way towards resolving them. Let us know if you have any other feedback or suggestions here: http://getsatisfaction.com/satisfaction
I’m eager to improve search!

Inappropriate?Hi vangispen,
We hear you! Right now we're working on a new way to start topics. There will be a much longer list of helpful topics from the past. We're killing the modal floating box in favor of a new page, we'll be giving you much more room to add details and more!
The search page is definitely in need of a revamp as well, we've got a lot of other things we want to work on first, but we'll get there.
Thanks for the feedback.
I’m thankful for honest feedback

Inappropriate?Just answer the stupid question and stop trying to control everyone. Talk about having to read through crap to get an answer .... sheesh!

Inappropriate? Can we get an excerpt of this answer from the old forum here as an official response from the PBWiki reps?

Inappropriate?I'm a pretty basic user and would like to change it to default to the sidebar. I see the info above (thank you Vu), but I don't know where to insert that code. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks! -
Ticey - just place the code into the "Any Google Gadget" on your Quick Start Page. If you don't use the Quick Start and Recent activities tabs, you can also just delete those pages to only have the Sidebar. -
Inappropriate?Rachel - thanks for your quick response. Do I need to be the wiki owner to have the "any google gadget" on my quick start page? When I click on the Quick Start tab it doesn't open a new page, but just gives me the 3 steps (edit, create, and share) so I'm not sure where to find the "any google gadget"...Sorry for all the questions!
-
Ticey- try clicking the "Show all pages" link on your wiki, go to the Quick Start page, and click Edit for that page. You can then find the Google Gadget by going to "Insert Plugin" -> "Productivity" -> "Any Google Gadget." Hope this helps! -
Rachel- I was able to view the quick start page by showing all pages. I tried adding it as a Google gadget and by pbwiki magic as VU suggested, but neither one worked. I edited the page, clicked on insert plugin and then followed then selected either "productivity, google gadget" or PBwiki magic, html. I saved it and then tested it and no luck. The quickstart was still the "default" on several pages, but then several showed the sidebar first. Any other suggestions? -
Inappropriate?Hi Ticey - do you use the Quick Start and Recent Activity tabs?
-
We don't use the quick start tab, but we do use the Recent Activity tabs. -
Okay - let's try placing this code in the Google Gadget plugin on your sidebar. (You can get to editing the sidebar by going to View all pages). Does this work? -
Rachel - you're the BEST!!! That worked! Thanks so much for your help.
