How do I put the pages in the order I want?
I've made pages as they occur to me but now they aren't in any particular order that makes sense. I'd like to insert an index and be able to order how the pages appear in a way I want. I can't see how to do this.

Inappropriate?I'm sorry, we don't support any method that would allow you to re-order them in an index page you've created.
If I needed to do that, I'd probably copy the list of pages into a word processor or spreadsheet and re-order the list there. Once done, I'd paste it back into the wiki.
I’m happy to help.

Inappropriate?Maybe I didn't ask a good question? I don't necessarily need to put them into an index page I've created, but how the page listing appears on the wiki doesn't seem to make much sense. There are at least a few pages that probably would be helpful for people to look at first. How to direct them to these? I've never looked at another wiki than wikipedia, so am not quite sure how others do this.

Inappropriate?I'm sorry. I may be too tired but I don't see at all how this helps. How are pages created if the create page button isn't used. What is the side bar thing? I've seen it but haven't a clue what it is for. But I also don't have the patience to read the detail of the help documents you sent. I'll try again tomorrow. I suspect it isn't you that is problematic, but me, at the moment.
I’m confused & irritated

Inappropriate?Depends on what your question is... Pages in your wiki are separate pages. You can create an "index" in more than one way (which is what I think Clif was referring to in his second answer):
1) You can write something on your frontpage and include links to the pages you want to send people to. For example: "read this first" - which can link to a page explaining in detail what your wiki is all about. But you can also simply list all your pages in the order you want, and add links to them.
2) You can use the sidebar as a sort of "table of contents". The advantage of this is that the sidebar can be accessed from any page = easier to jump around.
3) You can use the "show all pages" option, which lists all the pages in alphabetical order. You can't change that order - I think that was what Clif meant in his first reply.
Hope this helps! -
Inappropriate?Hi Harriet,
Here's what you want in the least steps I could put together:
1) Click New Page.
2) Enter a page name (such as IndexAllPages) and create it.
3) In the page's edit mode, click Link
4) Click "Wikipage" for the type, then select a page you want to link to
5) Click OK.
6) Repeat for as many pages as you want, and organize it how you want.
If you want to direct people to a certain place right off the bat, you could link to other pages by editing the FrontPage instead of a new page, since the FrontPage is what most people see (it's where the Home button takes you).
Hope that helps!
