Offline reading and editing (Google Gears?)
Is there any way to read & update your wiki offline and have it resync when you are next online?
I am looking for a solution for taking notes that will be available wherever I am with my laptop, but also available on my desktop PC. Maybe Google Gears would be able to make this work? (I haven't looked at the API so it was only an idea).

Hi! We're currently investigating ways to make PBwiki more accessible, including improving our mobile and offline access capabilities. Technologies like Google Gears could help us with this. I think you should expect us to make real progress on this this year.
Just as an FYI, it's pretty likely that we'll have offline read-only access well before offline editing capabilities, given the complexities of explaining merge conflict resolution or check-in / check-out functionality.

Inappropriate? At the moment, PBwiki does offer a backup file which should allow you to read your wiki offline, but there's no syncing ability. We're looking into leveraging desktop extensions of various types though, so this may be possible in the future.
Thanks for the idea!

Inappropriate? As a programmer I can fully appreciate the complexity of merging updates - I just wish I could get this functionality now ;-)
I’m resigned to waiting...

Inappropriate?Just one further thought on this matter - a much simpler solution to offline editing might be to only allow you to add comments (which are uploaded when you go back online) - at the very least you could then leave yourself a note with what to update when you were next online.

Inappropriate?Great idea, thanks!

Inappropriate?I reminder that the backup file doesn't contain things like graphics and equations.
