Passwords with version 2.0
If I remember correctly, there will be individual password capability with version 2.0. True? If so, will there be a limit to the amount of unique users and/or passwords? Also, will there still be a wiki-wide password for readers and one for contributors?

Inappropriate?Hi J.D.
Great question. There will be individualized logins for PBwiki 2.0 using PBwiki accounts - you can set this up for your PBwiki 1.0 as well. Here's how to share your PBwiki making sure that each user has a unique account:
1) Go to wiki settings
2) Click on Users
3) Add the new users email address and chose an access level for that person. (Remember this is a premium feature)
You will still be able to use the invite key(wiki wide password) in PBwiki 2.0.

Inappropriate?Hmmm... does that mean that each person can set their own password now? I was under the impression that was going to be a 'new' feature with 2.0. Right now everyone uses the same, wiki-wide password.
- Can they set their own password now?
- If not, will they be able to with 2.0?

Inappropriate? Are you sure about that? I've been trying to give someone "writer access" to my PBWiki 2.0, and I can't figure it out. I think I found a message elsewhere in these boards that it was disabled during beta? If there's a way, I'd love to hear how to do it. (I've given an email address "writer access" and when that writer tries to sign in, they're asked for a PBWiki login or an invite key.) We're stuck.

Inappropriate?I've just set up my pB 2.0 wiki and created a seperate "test" user to see what it looks like to someone from the outside. Now, no matter what I do, the test user (all signed up with new PB account, etc) has no edit function, and can't even comment. OK, so now I realize I have to not only have that user have a wikiPB account but I also have to "invite" them as a writer in order for them to have access. This seems complex. Also, when I invite someone to become a writer, no notification of that fact get sent out. Is this how this is supposed to work or am I missing something here? On other wikis, I just enter in the passcode and I am editing....?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? There's a bit more information about the decisions made regarding PBwiki 2.0 login here: http://getsatisfaction.com/pbwiki/top...

Inappropriate?I read the information on the link that you set, but I am still unsure about my password question. I am not as familiar with "Invite" keys.
Will users of 2.0 have individual passwords or no? Will we still be relegated to a wiki-wide password?
Jessica -
Inappropriate?Currently, you must have a PBwiki account to have access to a 2.0 PBwiki. We've disabled wiki-wide Invite Keys at all levels for 2.0 wikis. So yes, people will have to have individual passwords for PBwiki - for their accounts. Access to a wiki has to be granted through Settings | Users, and that is where you set the level of access such as Reader or Editor.
As for the post-Beta future, we're discussing the merits of both systems in this thread: http://getsatisfaction.com/pbwiki/top... -
Inappropriate? And Invite Keys are what we renamed wiki-wide passwords because people were confusing the wiki password with their Account password.
-
Inappropriate? What you'll have to do, Karla, is have your other user create a PBwiki Account, and then with the email they used there, add that in [Settings | Users], and set their access from there.
We have disabled Invite Keys for the Beta, and are discussing the merits of this decision, and what we're going to do in the future here: http://getsatisfaction.com/pbwiki/top... -
Inappropriate?OK, I think that I understand. Will there be a limit to the number of accounts that we can have on our wiki?
-
Inappropriate?I don't think so, but some of our users have been having problems trying to keep track of lots of people having access to their wikis, so that's something we're keeping an eye on.
So go ahead and add everyone you know :) -
Inappropriate? We have had limits on the number of business class users, although I don't believe that has been something implemented for everyone else yet.
-
Inappropriate?I fall into the Business class user set. What kind of limits have you and/or will you have?

Inappropriate?Your best bet is to talk to Tom Kuegler directly at tom.kuegler[at]pbwiki[dot]com
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Generally, we have you pay by the number of users you have, or intend to have. For instance, you pay $X for 25 users, $Y for 50 users, $Z for 100 users and so on. I know we're working on pricing for 2.0 wikis now, but haven't released anything concrete yet.
If I were you, I'd start talking to TK, our Sales guy, and see what he has to say about your particular situation. If you email sales @ pbwiki, you'll probably hear from him pretty soon. -
Inappropriate?Lol, jinx!
You can email either address, Tom Kuegler = TK
