PBWiki Family Tree Capabilities
I'd like to try and add a small photo of each person above their name, and this text-based tree would not easily support it.
I've thought about instead attaching a powerpoint file with an image of the tree and each name on the tree would have URL hotlinks to the separate Wiki pages, but not every family member has Powerpoint.
Any ideas? Any upcoming enhancements to PBWiki that might help? :)
Thanks!
Joe.

Inappropriate?Unfortunately, we don't have a plugin available (that I'm aware of) that will provide the functionality that you're looking for.
One idea that comes to mind is that you could stick to the text-based tree that you have, then create individual pages about each person that folks can click on from the original tree. You could then use our tagging features to tag each page with items such as their current location (CA, MD, WY, IL, etc).
Whatever you end up doing, I'd love to hear about it here!
I’m glad you're using PBwiki

Inappropriate? My suggestion, albeit not easy to create, edit or maintain but certainly more pleasing to the eyes, would be to use a table.
With fixed width cells, different borders and fill colours it should be easier to see the tree at a glance.
Use align and valign attributes to align cell contents (photo at top?), colspan to group cells, etc.
See tables.
And maybe replace PowerPoint with a jpeg or gif and use <map> and <area> tags to show an image with clickable hotspots?

Inappropriate? What a creative use of PBwiki! If I think of anything that might work for you, other than what has been previously suggested, I'll be sure to post it for you. I'd love to see how this turns out, though.
I’m interested in making a family tree of my own!

Inappropriate? Thanks for your replies, everyone. To make the family tree more manageable, I've split it into major "trunks" by grandparents, and it's coming along (it'll probably always be a work-in-progress). Once I finish a section, which should be soon, I'll try the suggestion to make a hotspotted JPEG file (by creating the original using Powerpoint or Photoshop, then exporting as JPEG).
I'll reply back here to let everyone know how it goes (and maybe provide links?).
Joe.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I'm using my wiki for a similar purpose -- compiling a massive forest of family trees.
Here's a page showing one approach -- not optimal, but quite functional.

Another useful way to use tables, to link individuals to specific categories of original documents (in this case, individuals to copies of census returns):

But I'm always on the lookout for good ideas -- hope you share them here! (I don't have a clue on how to make hot-spot clickable .jpegs -- any clues?)
