pbWiki is yummy but I want my own darnit!
Hi guys, I'm looking for an installed equivalent to pbwiki.
That is, the features of pbwiki, yes, including the premium versions, but installed on my own server or computer, rather than on pbwiki's.
Thanks

Inappropriate?Hi Babak,
There are some pretty cool freely downloadable wiki packages at this site:
http://www.wikimatrix.org/
Keep a close eye on the system and software requirements. Most of the wikis run on PHP or ASP.
If you have to choose, I'd pick a PHP system. It's free to download and install as well. You can find PHP Triad for Windows here:

Inappropriate?thanks clif, is this server side?
I went to wikimatrix but there are sooooo many out there it is mind boggling to narrow it down to just ONE!

Inappropriate?I've heard great things about MindTouch but am confused, is it free or incredibly expensive? their site is a bit confusing.
I’m silly

Inappropriate?Hi Babak, I'm curious: How come you want a downloadable equivalent rather than using PBwiki online?
I’m interested

Inappropriate?more control, less cost, customizable, skinnable, can host it on my own domain, or sub-domain, etc.
nothing wrong with pbwiki, I just realized I've sort of, well, outgrown it. I want to mess about with my own wiki, maybe learn a bit of coding, etc.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I understand -- thanks for letting me know!

Inappropriate?wow, I just discovered Versionate. It seems to be the new kid on the block and it has some freakin amazing features:

I think it is out of y combinator, the same guys who dev scribd - probably why it can handle embedded files like pdf, word, excel, etc.
anyone looking for alternatives may find it interesting -
Wow. Very impressive features. -
This has some really great functionality which I have been wanting with Pbwiki..... Searching capability for uploaded files, a working and robust export facility. I'm going to have a good look at this
