Removing buttons on a page
I'm a newbee and I'm creating a business wiki. I'd like to have it so when my readers look at my wiki (and can't edit it), they shouldn't see the side buttons (Create A Page . . . etc.) Is there a way I can remove these?
Thanks!
Chris

Inappropriate?Hi Chris - you can minimize that entire right panel by clicking the small black triangle just above page history. Now all the information on the right side will be hidden. Hope this helps!

Inappropriate?HI Rachel,
Actually this helps me, but what if I don't even want my viewers to even see the buttons when they log in to my wiki. I know they can collapse the right side, but can I remove the buttons from the wiki completely? -
Inappropriate?Hi Chris - which buttons specifically do you want removed? We don't officially support this, but some of our users have created workarounds that you can find here: http://widget.pbwiki.com/

Inappropriate?Hi Rachel,
I actually tried this code from widget.pbwiki.com by putting it in the source code for the main page, but it did not hold. I'm wondering if it's because it's V2.0. Your thoughts? -
Inappropriate?Hi Chris- Try using the Google Gadgets plugin to embed the code. It usually allows it through.
-
Inappropriate?Hi Rachel - Unfortunately it didn't go through with the Google Widget. Not sure what the next steps are.

Inappropriate?Hi Christian,
The widget library is an unofficial workaround so it doesn't always work with our system.
However, what level of access are you planning on giving your users? If you assign them "Reader" level of access and keep the sidebar minimized, they won't see any buttons. -
Inappropriate?Hi Rachel,
Ok, there may be some confusion. I would like it so that my readers don't see the buttons "Create a page, Upload/view files, Upgrade . . . etc.". Currently the blog is set to private and i have given access to myself (through other emails) as a reader. So, when I log in as the administrator and collapse the sidebar, if I then log in as a reader, the buttons still in the top right corner are still there. I hope this helps. -
Inappropriate?Hey Chris. I just figured this out. You go to "Edit the Sidebar". Then you click "Insert a Plugin". Then "Productivity"; then "Google Gadget". Then copy and paste this:

Inappropriate?Sorry, for some reason it didn't paste. Let me try again.

Inappropriate?ugh. Still won't paste. Better yet, go to this person's comment. They've obviously figured this website out. http://getsatisfaction.com/pbwiki/top...
