Running a club on pbwiki
I run a choir that do lots of church services a year (about 120), it is made up of about 60 volunteers and we'd like an online sign-in service, where people can log in and sign up for what services they can do. I've written a spreadsheet for attendance, but am not sure if this would be the best way to do it online: has anyone else done this before? What's the best way to go about it? Using a calendar?

Inappropriate?Rather than using the spreadsheet plugin, I would just do it as a table on a wiki page, honestly. It's a lot more flexible and gives people more room to write.
Overall, I think this is a perfectly legitimate use for a wiki. Let us know if you have further questions!

Inappropriate?Yep, everyone with the right permissions will be able to edit a page can change it however they see fit. That said, if you are using a premium wiki, only moderators and administrators can make irreversible changes to a page (the history of all old revisions of all pages are stored unless manually deleted).
