Inappropriate?I'm working with my Biology teacher to put his lab manual on a wiki - he doesn't always have the materials for each portion of each lab, and we end up not using several pages in each lab, which still get printed every quarter. If he uses a wiki, and knows he's out of, say, Biuret reagent, he knows to delete the section of the lab relating to testing for proteins, and when he gets some in, he can just go to the history section of the lab page, and revert to the original lab.
This will also save paper, as we'll only have to print out the relevant sections of the lab, and don't have to use the 5 page lab that's in the manual when we only need 3 pages of it. He also loves to put loads of interesting side information in the lab manual, and having a wiki would let him update and add to this invaluable collection of knowledge quarter to quarter.
I’m looking forward to genetics next week!

Inappropriate?I've been working with a professor at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. She attended a conference session last March when I talked about wikis and I have helped her create a project for her education technology students. She has found that the textbooks are basically obsolete when she gets them. So, her students are writing an educational technology textbook with pbwiki and each semester's students will edit/add to the content.
I met with the first group of students over video to discuss wiki basics, point them to examples, hyperlinked wrting and copyright issues. Next group discussion is in March.
She is also supervising 3 grad students who were offered a choice of a research paper or working on the wiki - they all chose to wiki while they work!
I’m thilled!
