Why are my hidden pages not hidden?
I just paid $36 to add the hidden page feature to my wiki. I selected a page, edited the page, and checked the "hide Page" box.
The page now has a red banner at the top stating "This page's content is hidden. It can only be viewed by wiki administrators and moderators who are logged in.", followed by the page's content.
I then logged out, then logged in as a different user, to whom I had given only Reader access. When I clicked on that same hidden page link, I was shown the full content of the page, with the same red banner at the top stating "This page's content is hidden. It can only be viewed by wiki administrators and moderators who are logged in."
Not really hidden -- the full content is viewable, and all links are active on the page.
Did I do something wrong?

Inappropriate?I've had a similar problem with "locking" pages. I'll lock a page so that only admins can edit it (tho anyone should still be able to see it), log out and back in with a reader level username, and am still able to edit the page. If I log on from a different machine the page is locked, so maybe it's a cookie thing?

Inappropriate?Hi there,
I'm sorry we haven't attempted to answer this yet, but I'm getting someone on it. This looks like some sort of bug, but it might be a cookie issue as well. It could even be a cookie bug!
Can you try something for me? Clear out the cookies on your computer, and try logging in from the Reader account. Like Maverick found, logging in from a different machine with the reader account worked as it should, but if you're using a shared computer at a school or something, then that's a pretty big security hole.
I’m hoping this isn't too broken!

Inappropriate?maybe not bug
maybe not cookie
maybe cache, empty it! -
Inappropriate? One interesting consequence of PBwiki 1.0 having two login systems is that I've seen cases where I can log out of my PBwiki Account and still be logged in to a specific wiki (to which i had previously logged in with just the Invite Key). Then if I were to log into a different account, I'm not entirely sure which login credentials get precedence.
It may be related to that, if neither of the two solutions above yield any results.
I’m so glad PBwiki 2.0 has a better login scheme

Inappropriate?I tried both emptying the cache as well as clearing all pbwiki-related cookies. Neither worked. When I log in with the reader account, I am still able to see pages that should be hidden. This is obviously no good. I'm inclined to ask for a refund of the $36 upgrade fee I paid, since this feature (locking pages) is not working as advertised. I suppose I need to wait for PBWiki 2.0 and page-level permissions...
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I also tried logging in on a completely different computer that I had never used to access pbwiki. I am still able to see the "locked" content -- albeit with the red warning header. I get both the red warning header AS WELL AS the content I'm not supposed to see. HELP!

Inappropriate?Hi,
"Locked" content is content that is unchangeable except by moderators and admins. "Hidden" content is content that is invisible except to moderators and admins.
Are you locking or hiding pages?

Inappropriate?Could you confirm once more that this second user is indeed a reader only? If you're getting the red banner, then it's recognizing that the page is hidden, so I'm a little confused.
If you confirm that is the case, you may want to send a message directly to support (click the Help link at the top-right corner of your wiki) so we can deal with your specific case, since I can't seem to reproduce it in any other wiki.
Thank you so much for your patience! -
Inappropriate?I have confirmed that the second user is, indeed, read only. As I mentioned, I'm getting the red banner AND the supposedly hidden text.
And I did submit the same problem directly to support.
Thanks - -
Inappropriate? The red banner and the hidden text always show up together, since it's a message to admin and mods that the page is hidden. If a non-logged in person visits the page, they should be taken to the login screen. If a logged in reader goes to the page, they should get this message on an otherwise blank screen:
"You must be an administrator or moderator to view/edit this page. Please log out and log back in as an administrator or moderator to gain access."
It sounds like you know exactly what is going on in your wiki, so I'm not doubting you, but this IS really weird.
I’m confused
