Why the irritating upgrade page?
I just signed up to try out PBwiki. When I first went to log in I got a page advertising an upgrade. That's fine, but why make the page so irritating? It looks like one of those hard sell websites selling something like How To Increase Your Biceps or How To Make Hell Of Money With Real Estate.
The "Continue trying out the free version" link is one full screen down, and it's phrased weirdly so it looks like it doesn't really take you to the free version.
"Continue trying out the free version
No thanks, just take me to my wiki" (in tiny text compared to everything else on the page)
It was literally my first experience with PBwiki. I can see doing the upgrade ads after I'd been using it for a while, but this sort of turned me off.

Thanks, Guy. Actually I think we are talking about two different items. During the signup process we do take you through an upgrade options page.
The interestitial is a very different thing and what I was referencing here.
As a look forward, in the coming months the upgrade process is going to be going through some changes to make it cleaner and simpler.

Hi David:
First of all, thanks for trying out PBwiki.
The interstitial ad that you are seeing only shows up if the following criteria have happened:
1. You have created a Business Edition wiki
2. You have already made 100 edits to your trial wiki
Our Business Edition is only a trial version. We provide the full version of our software free of charge during this trial period. But our logic is that once you hit 100 edits, you have begun to see the value of PBwiki in your enterprise and it is time to upgrade.
If you would like to talk more about how you are using it and the best way for your company to continue testing PBwiki, please feel free to email me at: tom (at) pbwiki (dot) com

Inappropriate?I certainly agree with your logic for the placement of the interstitials - if it's business edition or 100+ edits. I meant to select personal edition, and I certainly had not made 100 edits (more like 0 edits).
Is there any way to check whether I accidentally selected Business Edition? (I might have just accidentally hit an up or down arrow key on that drop box that asks you to select). I was really just trying to try it out to see whether it would be useful for my study group. -
Inappropriate?Hi David:
Just email me and I will take care of your issue. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for your help. It really isn't that big of a deal - I would just delete the page and resign up again. But now I'm curious.
I didn't see your email address in your profile here, nor on http://pbwiki.com/content/team. Is there some generic pbwiki customer service email that I am not seeing? -
Inappropriate? My email is tom (at) pbwiki (dot) com

Inappropriate?TK: You might want to check with the programmers. I've created two wikis in the last two days, and the "Silver/Gold/Platinum" page that David describes showed up when I first created both wikis (0 edits). One was Educational (2.0), one was Individual (1.0). That page appears every time anyone creates a wiki, and has for at least the last year.

Inappropriate?David - be careful. If you delete a PBwiki, they "retire" the wiki name permanently. It's better to contact support directly and have them make changes to your wiki.

Inappropriate?"The interestitial [sic] is a very different thing and what I was referencing here."
I know, but that's not what the OP was talking about, so your comment was not relevant to his problem, and he appeared to be confused by your reply, so I wanted to try to clarify exactly what everyone was talking about.
I’m glad we're all on the same page now!
