Hi we currently have a silver wiki at our university. It has been assessed by external moderators which means we need to keep hold of an easy-to-read version (giving external assessors the zipped backup will not be an option). We will be running the wiki again in the next semester with a new cohort of students. Is there anyway instead of exporting it - that it can be archived in web-space somewhere (putting it in a folder will not be appropriate because of the assessment element) and we can use a blank wiki - without having to set up a separate new wiki ?
All suggestions would be very welcome,
Thanks
Nicola
Firefox 3.5, that will be released very soon almost useless on pbwiki - on every page it gets Security error 5 alert, it is imposible to edit, comment, etc - always security error. Fresh profile not helping.
No errors in error console
Can I export my pbwiki to a standard format to import to another wiki? I want to experiment with my pbwiki content in another type of wiki, but need to export my html and files from pbwiki. How would I do this?
We have unauthorized comments in our page (http://ilsfcn.pbworks.com).
Apparently the user (Mariano Pergolini) is not registered but he can post comments. How can it happen?
I get notifications when someone uploads a file, even though I have notifications set only for my starred and NOT for newly added items.
To be clear, I have the "Send notifications only for my starred items" radio button selected, and not the "Also notify me of newly added items" checkbox.
This is for a relatively busy wiki (barcamp.pbworks.com), and it results in several emails telling me that people have uploaded files that I really don't care about.
When I try to access my wiki, Firefox reports that the query has entered a Redirect Loop that will never end. I have the same problem when I use Internet Explorer.
Others do not have this problem accessing my wiki.
I have never had a comparable problem with any other site.
I have tried clearing various caches --- browser cache, dns cache -- to no avail.
I use PBWiki as a knowledgebase for our company - I love using it, it's way easier than our previous solution (a massive disjointed Word document), but there's one error that has been occuring occasionally that's a litlte odd.
Sometimes, when I paste content (generally from a website), then try to select the text (either using the mouse or the arrow keys on the keyboard), it gives me two error messages at the same time.
Both of them say "stack overflow at line 0".
I'm still able to edit other content on the same page, but not the stuff I'd pasted.
Once this occurs, I'm unable to edit that content until I save and reenter the page.
I'm trying to use the wiki to help some of my colleagues learn the HTML entities they need to do their jobs (we're an online magazine). I can't post proper examples, however, because pbwiki keeps changing them to live code.
For example. I type ‥ in source view, and pbwiki changes it to ‥ and then just displays the character on the wiki page. Is there any way to keep it from doing this?
How do I add a flickr badge to my sidebar? I have a flickr badge, a combination of pictures on a flicker account. It displays in a frame, several pictures and it moves them around the frame. I have the code for it, and I placed it on my Blogger account, but I cant get it to go on my sidebar. Please help.
I'm trying to make nested numbered lists with different numbering styles. For example:
I. Main topic
A. Sub topic
1. Sub sub topic
a. Sub sub sub topic
... and so on. I know how to change the attributes of the numbered list, but I can't get them to change the format. Instead, if I start a line with an upper-case Roman numeral, the nested list below it automatically creates lower-case Roman numerals. If I try to change only the nested lines to Arabic numerals, then the higher level line changes too. I've searched both Help and the forums all morning and also consulted with our de-facto Wiki expert at my office, but can't find a solution. Thanks!
I know the Google Chrome beta pretty much just got released today (and it IS a beta), but I'll bring it up anyway just so that people are aware.
I'm able to edit and change 1.0 pages just fine. However, two 2.0 wikis that I use (one private, one public) are both uneditable in Chrome.
Safari apparently works with 2.0 wikis, judging from what I've read here. (Safari seemed to have the same problem, but that bug got fixed.) So, I'm less inclined to think that it's some odd WebKit bug, if that helps, though I wouldn't know for sure.
So our business WIKI is 120 pages and I am getting concerned about getting an unmanageable nest :-)
As a developer I am used to the following reports:
- Orphaned pages (ones that aren't linked to)
- Used by (this page is referenced by)
- Complete list of external links
And these available as pretty html (see all pages) and raw text (delimeted)
I am new to PBWiki and may have missed that these exist already.
Cheers,
JAC.
p.s. didn't even realise I have moved away from pbwiki when I clicked support.
I'd like to see my entire wiki and how all pages inter-relate. Thus a wiki wide table of contents or site map. Even better would be a visual tool to see each page and how they relate i.e. mind map.
I click on edit and make changes to the page but then I can't scroll down to get to the save changes button. The page isn't frozen - there's just no scroll bar.
Thanks
Jo
My students are using a premium wiki from summer camp. Is there any way to change the profile pictures on a student account? Since I'm admin, I was able to change my own, but not theirs.
Can I please change the default to NOT notify new members of updates???
I want to give my members the freedom to participate but I don't want to spam them!!! I have had to send many apologies to people that I really didn't want to send unsolicited emails to.
I've created a few large pages automatically from Word documents. They contain quite a few images, which display well in the workspace page. However, each individual image within the original Word document is extracted and saved as a file, viewable in the file browser and in search. As PBworks automatically renames these images based upon the title of the original Word file, I have hundreds of similarly named JPEGs littering the file browser, and 'polluting' the search results.
Is there a way to exclude images from the workspace search?
