A proposal for supporting hcalendar events

Between microformats and oEmbed, there seems to be an opportunity to allow the remote linking of an event into a page. Specifically, an ideal use case would be creating an event on Facebook or Upcoming, then visiting a wiki page, clicking Edit then the Plugin button then inserting something appropriate from a list (Event, Upcoming/Facebook Event, etc), accepting a URL to link to the original object (similar to the Link dialog in the editor where you have a dropdown of options).

You could then scrape information from hCalendar or oEmbed and insert it into the page -- perhaps where footnotes go at the bottom of the page or at the top -- and repeating the original HTML semantics (i.e. hCalendar).

For objects like these, you could add them to a central listing of events, for which a templated page would be available (no editing allowed) that would simply aggregate all events across the wiki over a set number of days/months/infinite into the future and which would list the events in either a calendar or list view.

Of course this idea is intended to replace the BarCamp homepage.
