A student accidentally deleted an entire page full of information. One, why I didn't receive notification of that change? And, two, is there a way to get it back??

Inappropriate? The first part of your problem may have to do with notifications. If you're not signed up for notifications, or if you have them set to once a day or something, you won't be notified for a while.
The second part of your problem isn't really a problem :) All you have to do is go to the page where the information was deleted, go to the bottom, and where it says Page Information, and then such-and-such X time ago [history], click on the history link. It will take you to a page where you can compare the previous edits and find the one you need, and then just click on the date and time of the edit you want. On the page that you then go to, just click "Revert [PageName] to this revision" and there you go.
Now that the immediate problem is solved, check out this conversation on how to change your notifications so you have more control over when your wiki is changed: http://getsatisfaction.com/pbwiki/top...
Also, in PBwiki 2.0, you'll be able to have more control over the amount of access your students have to your wiki - you can find out more at our blog, in this post here: http://blog.pbwiki.com/2008/01/08/pbw...

Inappropriate?Hi Candice,
I'm really sorry about this. But did your student delete a page full of information, or the entire page?
If the student just deleted a page full of information, Casey's right -- just follow her directions to restore the data.
But if the student deleted the entire page (not just the content, but the page itself), it's *completely deleted.* That means it cannot be recovered.
In the future, one way to avoid accidentally deleted pages would be to upgrade (click "Add features" in the top-right corner of your wiki) so that you can assign different levels of access to your wiki users. For example, you could assign "Contributor" level to your students so they wouldn't be able to delete any pages.
Thanks for using PBwiki.

Inappropriate? It seems that a recycle-bin would solve a lot of problems with unintentional deletion. the admin could be the only one with access to the recycle bin. Individual users could delete files and pages from their permissioned folders but the admin would be able purge the recycle bin or recover inadvertently deleted files, either by the permissioned users or the admin's oops.

Inappropriate?does the full backup zip contain pages whose current revision has been deleted?
