Change "new" to "search" for Readers
NOTE: This was a post on the old PBWiki forums which I'm reviving ... Vu had indicated he might take a look at it, which would be great! http://forums.pbwiki.com/viewtopic.ph... is the previous URL.
Essentially, here is my request:
For anyone who is only a reader, if they send in a URL for a page that is nonexistent (e.g. “[wiki_url]/Capital”), PBWiki currently assumes they are trying to create a new page and transforms the URL into “[wiki_url]/newpage.php?page_name=Capital”. And of course because they are only a reader they do not have permission & so they get a Permission Denied page.
But what I need is for it to transform the “[wiki_url]/Capital” URL into “[wiki_url]/FindPage?SearchFor=Capital".
The reason? We have implemented a glossary using PBWiki, and sometimes terms don't quite match, but you can usually find the one you're looking for in a search. A search page makes much more sense than Permission Denied, which is discouraging for the users, they don't know where to go from there.
So I'm reporting as a problem, because for us this is really hurting the usability of our Wiki.

Inappropriate?Thomas, we just put out a feature in PBwiki 2.0 that addresses some of this.
When you type in a URL for a nonexistent page, we look for pages with names that closely match the the page that was typed in. For example if you are looking for a page named "TODO" and you typed in "to do" instead. You'll be directed at the proper page.
Thanks for your feedback!
I’m happy
