Firefox compatibility
Why on earth does pbwiki not work well with Firefox? This is a disgrace PBwiki does not render pages well in Firefox. I think that this absolutely needs to be fixed.

Inappropriate? We do all of our primary development and testing in Firefox.
Can you provide a link to page not rendering properly? -
Inappropriate? This site renders properly in IE, but not in FF.

I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Looks like the issue is that the table is intersecting the SideBar. Try adding a < br clear="all" > above the table?
-
Inappropriate? Here's how it looks in V1, but it sure looks good in V2.
-
Inappropriate?Well, the table is doing exactly what the code says. It's been set to 100% of the width, which doesn't take the SideBar into account, because it's floating. Since there's nothing that says to clear floats before drawing the table, it's drawn right there, even if it runs into the SideBar. It's one of the problems inherent in the way we did the SideBar in 1.0, which as Guy points out, is solved in 2.0 (where SideBar margins are clearly defined).
David's solution forces the table to render after the end of the SideBar, which isn't always ideal, particularly with a long SideBar. The other possibility is to go into source mode and put a <div> around it, such as:
<div style="margin-right:250px">
....table code....
</div>

Inappropriate?I'm noting that I can't edit pages in Firefox under XP (I think it works fine in Firefox under OS X, however). One example page to look at for this problem is:

Unfortunately this is a private wiki, so we can't take a look. Can you tell me what version of FireFox you're using? I believe the current version is 2.0.0.14. Thanks, and hope to hear from you soon! -
It looks like a public wiki to me. His link is to the edit view of the page, which requires a login. -

Thanks Guy, I didn't notice that :) -
I see I'm not the only one double-posting because of how slow Get Satisfaction has been lately... -
Inappropriate? Thanks; I just upgraded to 2.0.0.14, but the same problem exists. Do you want me to add you temporarily as an editor for the page? You can email me at [email address removed for privacy reasons at request of PBWiki.].

hey bkengland - can you send me a screenshot of what is appearing when you try to edit the page? support(at)pbwiki(dot)com. -
Inappropriate?FYI: Screen cap just sent to Rachel...
-
I'm on it :) -
Inappropriate? When you click edit in firefox v2 the page comes up blank - i.e. there is no text editor section. In internet explorer 7 it works fine. I'm running XP. The wiki I'm working on is: http://innofuture.pbwiki.com
I’m frustrated - IE is horrible
-
Inappropriate? This is consistent with what I found, and pbwiki was unable to provide a solution to me. However, as you discovered, you can use IE to do the work, and note that either browser on the Mac works fine.
Bye for now!

Inappropriate? What specific version of Firefox (e.g. 2.0.0.14) are you using? (Go to Help --> About in the browser to see)
-
I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.14. -
Inappropriate?I wouldn't bother asking, Vu. I've already been down the path of obvious checks with two pbwiki folks, and we took it about as far as we could (see some of the back and forth from about 15 days ago).
Thanks anyway!

It's really bizarre, since many of the developers at PBwiki are using the exact same versions of the browsers many of these users are. Regardless, thank you for understanding! -
Inappropriate? What seems to be pertinent in my case is that I'm using XP behind a corporate firewall; my XP at home didn't have the same problem.
Bye for now!

HI bkengland - that would definitely cause a problem with accessing PBwiki. Can you speak to your IT staff about allowing pbwiki through? -
Inappropriate?Well, since my pbwiki editing isn't associated with work, probably not. But, you're right, that would probably be the next step for anyone running into the same problem.
