Firefox spell check doesn't work in editing view
The firefox spell checker does not work inside the editing view (though it does work when you view source, and it works in almost every form box - like this one). Is this a bug, or is there a way I can fix this, or am I doing something wrong, or what?

Inappropriate?Good point Richard since Firefox' spell checker has always been cited by pbwiki as the reason they have not integrated their own spell checker! This is despite the fact that loads of users use IE as well!

Inappropriate? This is just killing me. I want to use the latest Firefox, of course. I'm a Mac user. And I live in my pbWiki sites online. So, what can I do? I have to paste into Word now in order to spell check and then paste it all back. Silly. Defeats the purpose for composing on the fly. Any good text editor should have a spell check. Why are they so indignant about not creating one?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? Can somone from PBwiki please update your users on your strategy for this very frustrating problem.

Inappropriate?Hi all,
I'm sorry for your frustration. We do plan to add spell checking to the wiki editor. However, I cannot promise you will see it soon.

There is a basic mis-understanding in this thread, I'm afraid. The problem is not that you need to add spell-checking to the editor. You are absolutely correct, that Firefox has a fine spell checker. The problem is that, the firefox spelling checker does NOT work inside the PB wiki editing environment. It works in other input boxes (like this one), but it does not work in the PB Wiki editor. I can write a misspelled word in the PB wiki editor, and, for some reason, Firefox doesn't underline it. It may be some really simple change in the code you use to create the editing environment, since it's unusual that it won't work. (By they way I'm on OS X/Firefox., and I'm not sure if this is true with other operating systems.) -
Hi Richard, no misunderstanding at all. As someone mentioned above, not everyone uses Firefox. Fixing the spellcheck for Firefox is not a complete solution. Thanks for bring this up. -
Inappropriate?Don't know if this helps at all but for me Firefox spellcheck does work if I view the source code of the writing by clicking the 'source' button when editing or creating a page.
My suggestion would be to write it in the WYSIWYG editor, then check the spelling in HTML source mode before saving. -
Inappropriate?Plonkely! Thank you so much. This rocks. So much easier than pasting back and forth from Word. This will do me for now till they come up with something. THANK YOU so much for posting.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hi Karr Yutuc,
Been using the Spellcheck in the wiki. I'm unable to right-click and get offered suggestions for my grave mistakes. Any chance this is coming? I really love how Firefox handles this... would also love to have it just "turned on" so I can type away and not forget to check it. I like those annoying red underlines. (I know some don't.) But it saves me from embarrassment later. A toggle option would be swell. Do you have an official place where these discussions are happening?
Thanks so much,
Angela
