Getting the Error 500 Message
I have been kicked off the wiki twice. I am now getting the Hic-up Error 500 message. Are others reporting this error?

PBWIKI, what the h... gives???
Everytime I try to add users, change comments, & even sometimes just go back to the previous pages ... oops ... here comes the "hiccup" ....
Guys, this is NOT a hiccup, it's a serious flaw.

Inappropriate?I've had a lot of frustrations trying to work with PBWIKI today. I'll have my students working with it next week. I certainly hope the problem is resolved or it will be impossible. The Error 500 message has come up more times than I can count. I have to save after nearly every sentence to prevent loss of data. -
Inappropriate?Yep, we had a server problem that didn't resolve itself automatically like it should have. About 15% of requests to the PBwiki application servers were getting empty replies, which clearly isn't right. Page view and edits may have been interrupted but stored wiki data was unaffected.
We haven't completely figured out the root cause of the issue but we've killed off the misbehaving server processes. All PBwiki services are functioning correctly at this point, and we'll keep a much closer eye on our system performance until we more completely understand the malfunction.

Inappropriate?Nathan-- hope you or someone else from PBWiki is monitoring the Server. Its 7:30AM -- Eastern Standard Time and the Error 500 error message has returned as well as causing me to loose a number of page edits. Do you folks have a large enough Server Farm or Node System to handle all the Summer Camp production load?

Inappropriate?Sorry Kim and Penny, the same problem has cropped up again. It occurred before anyone got into work this morning, so took more time to address. The problem seems to be a bug in the underlying third party software we're using, not a capacity problem. We've remove the problem machine and are still investigating the root cause.
We've stopped the errors from happening and don't expect them to come back any time soon. Sorry for the trouble!

Inappropriate?Continuing to get this error every time I submit a change, though the changes do appear on the site. The message is pretty scary and I'm trying to perhaps get some new people using the wiki, so if there's a solution I'd like to hear about it! (This was on the barcamp wiki btw)

Inappropriate?Rachel, just went back to check on the status & instead of the Hiccup/Very Hungry gif.... I got this alert message on the page I had tried to save in things started snagging. Previously, I had alert messages asking if the server had crashed or did I want to delete the draft. It's currently 5:45 PM - EST

Inappropriate?Hi gang! The ERROR 500 problem has returned & from reading comments within the PBwiki Summer Camp site, folks were having similar issues on Aug 18th. What are you guys doing to identify the root source of this error? Your current patch fixes only seem to provide temporary vs permanent relief to this service disruption. I'm getting more worried the longer this problem continues. Kimn

Inappropriate?I have been working at a SNAILS-pace for the last 4 hrs because of this ERROR 500 problem. I have to keep reloading pages for them to save. When they do save, I get the banner error message asking if the server crashed while editing the page; and then it flips to the Hiccup Error giff. I HAVE VERY LIMITED TIME -- classes start next week & I can't be bothered with loosing precious time & energy!!! HELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

Inappropriate?Rachel-- I am using my big shiney new MAC leopard that is in my home office & linked to the internet using ATT Uverse's fast/fast/fast Fiber Optic connection to the internet. Is it possible that my internet connection to TOO FAST for your server :) I am not having any troubles with anyother internet site, only my PbWiki :(

I wanted to update here - via the support team PBwiki engineers have been in touch with Kimn, and we've isolated a couple of issues which have come up - the particular errors a couple of our users were seeing were isolated almost completely to one wiki which has (had) an unusual combination of settings and scale which made our system take way to long to compute the list of folders, pages and files which were visible to a particular user on this particular wiki. I'd been working on another subtle performance-related issue already today, and the coming patch to fix the first should resolve the other as well. Thanks for your patience helping us diagnose this problem, it was subtle and only happened for a few people, but clearly was causing a lot of frustration.
